Does new paint job help or hurt when trying to sell your Vette?
So, the paint on my '81 looks good after I wax it, but the shine doesn't last long, and I can see a few areas where the paint is fading. I've had the car since 1992 and never had any paint/bodywork done, so as far as I know, it's the original paint job. IMO, I would want to have it painted if I was going to drive it often or every day. Others may think it's fine as is.
If I am going to put it back up for sale, do you guys thing a perspective buyer would:
A) want for me to have it painted and sell for higher price, or
B) not have it painted, sell at a lower price and let them decide on the need for it and where to get it done?

Yes. Depending on who`s looking to buy it.

Thanks guys. I know you don't get every dollar back on the paint job.
It looks like selling as is would be better. I have the same thoughts about hiding stuff and poor quality paint jobs. I will leave the car as it is.
Thanks again.

Really? So in your eyes any car with a new paint job was wrecked and repaired. So what is the cut off date for paint if you are buying a car. Or do you buy a car with crappy paint. My 80 has a brand new paint job on it and it's not hiding anything.

What he is saying fresh paint hides a lot of shady work. It only takes a few years to see if it was done right or in a hurry. I'm not saying all cars with freash paint is hiding bad things but you never know. It's fair more worse on metal cars

I would prefer to buy a freshly and properly painted c-3 then not . You can take it to a body shop and see if they are able to buff it to a lasting shine or maybe post photos here so we can all voice an opinion which will then help you decide
