Default 73 Muncie Metal Part Number Tag ?

Hello,
This is my first post on this forum. I usually spend most of my time on the NCRS TDB. I'm doing some research on the Muncie metal part number tags that were used on the transmissions. The 73-74 Judging Guide says that the tag should be present. (Probably another carry over from the 72's).My original M20 doesn't have one. Other original 73 owners that I've contacted say theirs do not have the tags either. The part numbers should be 6271516 -M20 and 6271518-M21. These were also the same part numbers used in 72.
My question is why we're the tags discountinued in 1973? I've received no response from anyone on the other forum.
My theory is that there were only two tranny choices in 73. The M22 HD Rock Crusher was no longer a choice. Also, some time in 74 they changed to the Borg Warners. 1973 was also the time the Corvette Order Copy "tank sticker" format changed to the Build Sheet Manifest format with the Broadcast Codes listed. Therefore, eliminated the need for the tags? I have my original Buildsheet and my tranny broadcast code letters are WD. So, my Muncie tag would have 6271516WD. (Which I've purchased) I have seen the Muncie part number lists and they do list up to the 73-74.
Your thoughts and comments would be very welcome!
Thanks,
Jimmy
