Default Is anyone running 275-60-15 tyres

looking for new tyres in 15" diameter.

Most of the 15" tyres are 4x4/SUV all season type.

This Bridgestone Dueler is a SUV type, but is advertised as Performance/Summer tyre

http://www.mytyres.co.uk/cgi-bin/rsh...r=1&ID=froogle

' The Bridgestone Dueler HTS has the high style look and ability to make performance tyre like handling available for sport trucks. Their unique tread pattern, inspired by the same Variable Radius Groove water evacuation technology used in the Potenza S-02, helps grip wet roads and reduces the risk of hydroplaning. The Dueler HTS deliver sports car-like handling that lets sport truck enthusiasts experience the excitement of driving their light trucks.'

I am not sure what all is available to you in the UK, but the Dueler my not be as performance oriented as even an all season passenger car tire. The light truck tires are built differently. They may have larger gauge steel for the belts, stiffer construction, and a harder tread compound. It certainly wouldn't do any harm to use on a C3, just know it may not give you what you are looking for.

Mickey Thompson Sportsman ST

BFGoodrich Radial TA

Both those come in your size, and are commonly used by corvette and other muscle car owners. I run the Mickey Thompsons in 255.

I had those or similar bridgestones on my truck and I wouldn't recommend them for a vette, I don't think you would get to great of performance off of them. I run Mickey Thompson's on my 77 and love them. I have 255/60 up front and 275/60 in the rear with my wheels I need spacers or the parking brake cable to be moved in order to fit the 275s.

I'm running 275-60-15 Cooper Cobra's on the back and 255's on the front.

Hate the fact that I can't spin a wheel anymore, now I have to increase horse power to have any fun.

BTW, I would NEVER buy any kind of tire with the word 'Stone' in it. Firestone, Bridgestone are all made by the same manufacturer and the belts come apart before any other brand.

When people drive by and you hear fwap, fwap, fwap...they are running firestone's.

Just my opinion, but I am sure it will kick up a 'fire'storm of arguments.

I'm thinking of running the 275s on the rear of my 73...Running 255 now..Reason being I'm going to a 370 rear from a 336 rear ( it went a few weeks ago) ..Car has a worked 350...No more crappy L-48...

I feel I may be able to knock down some RPM on the highway with the 275s....Cars a four speed.....You feel any additional drag with the 275s?
I see you wrote you couldn't spin a tire anymore..I take it you were joking though....Thnx..

yes i was joking.
I am running 336's and the damn tires just grab too much.

Since my diff is leaking, I am going to swap out the 336 to 370 or 373
I'll swap out the tranny later to a 700r4 or 300r4 after removing the current exhaust and going to side pipes.

Ken

PS. I'm not sure the rpm's are going to drop much by going up to 165mm vs 153mm for the 275..but will be interesting to see the results

When have Firestone belts come apart any time in the last 50 years? Where are you getting your information?

Did you have to move the P/brake cable? Looking for something a little taller to fill the wheel openings on my wife's 78.

I radiator clamped the emer brake cable to the trailing arms. Considered that a band aid fix until getting around to relocating the brackets, but then noticed that the PC that I was working on also had radiator clamps, like what I done. At first I thought that that was the way it left the factory. Later remembered that that PC at one time also had 275's, so guess it was not factory after all?

Damn that looks like mine....

As for the belts coming apart.
1) my wife's Tahoe came with them on, they passed inspection and withing 8 months they started fwapping...pulled them off and put on wranglers, ran them for years no problem.
2) My father had them on his 1980 caddy for 1 year and heard something funny, pulled over and ran his hands around the inside of the tires and cut his hands open from the belts coming thru.
3) My 1997 Ford explorer, same problem...fwapping in two years of light driving.

Never again.

Almost forgot, I moved the parking break cable in anticipation of getting 295's on the back, not sure if moving was required for the 275's.
I love the look of my back end being a little raised...most people don't...but it's my car soooooo.

We went with the Coopers. Very happy with them and they saved us $$ over the BFGs. 275/60/15 on the rear, 235/60/15 on the front. Didn't have to move the e-brake cable. No issues with rubbing anywhere.

Good luck with your project!

I'm getting my info on this comment by the fact that my passenger side Firestone tires belt came apart and took most of the rear quarter panel with it. No more for me either.
