I've had my '77 for about 10 months now, so I'm not a new owner, just now I have more money in the car than it's worth. That should make me an official C3 owner. I just got it back from the shop. Had the front main seal replaced, new harmonic balancer, new crankshaft pulley (it was cracked and could have gotten a lot worse), new radiator, valve seals replaced and drive shaft u-joints. Paying someone else to do the work is rough. BUT, I'm ready to go anywhere this summer and looking forward to driving without much worry.

(well you can not take it with you, my goal is always not to get TOO bad upside down, LOL's and this is cheaper than fishing, I think...)

Bats, it really was easier on the nerves, hands and back; plus some of it I just couldn't do by myself. So it was worth it in the long run.

Nice ride! I just got bitten by the "C3 bug" again about 30 years after we had our 68 and 73. I picked up a 76 L82 4 speed about a month ago, - Getting it ready for paint now. Just joined and getting familiar with the forum. Good luck with you new toy..

I think there's nothing wrong with spending money on a hobby, as long as it is something you enjoy. And if it's no longer fun, you stop.

You got a very nice-looking car there, so that's a great start.

Several years ago I decided to quit throwing time and money away on a project that was 16 years in the making.

I firmly believe in the "If at first you don't succeed, try again" mantra, but also think that after a few tries you start being a fool. Besides, when passion wanes and taking into consideration that what I thought was attractive 16 years earlier now looked old and tired, I filed for divorce.

Nice car, welcome to the red 77 club. I just had my transmission and main seal done also. Its nice not having puddles of oil under the car.

Great looking'77! I like them as they represent the last of the C3 generation prior to the addition of the bubble back years. Enjoy.

Five or six times would be a minimum amount of tries on some of the things we run into. A couple of weeks ago, it took me over an hour to loosen one of the two bolts holding the center console to the bottom of the center part of the dash!

Those are the two, right underneath the stereo. I couldn't find a socket to fit it for the life of me and because they are basically blind bolts, that you can only 'feel', I wasn't sure if any of the dozen sockets I had were too big or too small. I resorted to using the remote camera, to even see if I was making any headway and finally, found a 3/8 12 pt. socket from Harbor Freight that actually did the job. No room for even ignition wrenches either, BTW).

An hour to remove a single interior bolt! Is that rich or what? I never ran into anything like that, at my Shop with the numerous Chevelles, Camaro's or Impala's, but the C3 'Vettes? You bet!



Part of that C3 "Ownership Experience". You just keep trying.
