Help with a unusual barn find

Hi 69Pman and sorry to tag on the end of your questions, I and yourself are on the same page with this great story but you do realize that Pvirg is a FORD man. So to give him a little reality check I am recommending that he sell the tow car (4x4 Ford) and his Mustangs and give all his love to his now one true love of the GENERAL and her LT1 tow car.

Haha I do think you're on to something here. I'd have to bet that when Pvirg has reached whatever goal he wants to reach with the General, he'll have been turned into a vette guy. I know the vette community will keep up with him. As Pauly said in an episode of the Sopranos..."Just when I thought I was out...they pull me back in."

Is this some kind of rare gas pedal option? It's metal not wood.

Is definitely not a stock item. It looks pretty old school but if it's anything like what the NASCAR road course cars have you get on the gas and the toe loop is there for you to pull the pedal back in case the throttle sticks. Not sure if it was used because of any modifications that required the pedal to be pulled back manually each run. I'm sure someone will be able to answer more accurately if I'm wrong.
Looks worn in just right, though. Very cool!

Question, SB aluminum Block. Snowflake and not a lot of other numbers. Old. What do I need to look for.

See if there are any numbers stamped on the engine block. An aluminum SB sounds pretty interesting. You said your friend had stories of working with GM. Would be pretty cool to find out they might have supplied an aluminum SB for developmental purposes.

To your question, on the cylinder block, in front of the right head (Passenger Side head just to be clear) there should be a flat surface with numbers stamped on it. Anything there?
Too, at the trans mount area, behind the left/driver's side head, there should be a casting number. An example might read "3946052"
The snowflake can also be deciphered. At this time, I do not have that information.
Hope this helps.

Based on the pics we've seen of the engine thus far I believe he has a BBC. We'll hopefully find out more as he runs numbers and such. An aluminum big block would be such a cool factor to this journey.

If you look at this picture, the stamp pad appears blank and painted, along with the rest of the block...to disguise the aluminum? It was done. The intrigue continues.....

Here is a pic of the extra crank part number, still taped up in the machine shop box.

What diameter is the connecting rod bolt, 3/8" or 7/16"?
Should be 7/16" with a floating wrist pin (vs. pressed wrist pin)
These points would indicate a third (and best) design connecting rod, the one for such an application as yours.
Can't speak to the green paint though.
Hope this helps.

Measure the counterweight thickness; it should be 7/8"
Material should also be forged steel rather than cast iron.
Hope this helps.

The block in the car is aluminum , I don't see a number in the front. It maybe covered with the paint. Have not been able to check the back of the block yet. If you look where the front number would be you will see that the paint is off the edges, metal shines with no rust after 40+ years. And a magnet won't stick to the block. just checking to see if the parts fit if that makes sense? It's kinda like Christmas with every box I open.
