'77 hood wall art for my son
Some of you may recall that my young son and I were given a '76 Corvette last spring. We have been working on it here and there and the old 305 is ready to be pulled so that we can drop in the L05 350.
I had sourced a front clip and other parts for it last April. After looking over the broken hood and the '77 hood I decided it would be easier to repair the factory hood instead of this one. Plus it doesn't have the proper cowl vent. Anyhow, I sanded it down and the dealership I work at laid down the very custom mix of paint on it. They just saved their leftover silvers and greys and made the mix. My friend Kevin 'Taco' Geary did the custom paintwork for my son's name and the L-48 (what his '76 originally came with). It was a big deal for my son to make sure that 'Taco' put that on there LOL! Now to just hang it up in his room!
Anyhow, just wanted to share this with you all. I'll have an update with pics soon on the '76.
Later,
Lee
Ready for paint!
Putting the white down
Adding the L-48 nonclamenture
Laying down the blue
All done!

Thanks everyone! I try to be a good father but I'm far from perfect. I just want my son to have a good childhood and grow an appreciation for all things Corvette and car related.
The drivers side leading edge of the hood (where it comes to a point) was damaged enough that my skills could not repair that area. And since it is such a small pointed area it would break easily if mishandled. I did not want to sell it in that condition so I thought it would make for cool wall art and something for him to keep and (hopefully) treasure over the years.
Thanks again everyone...y'all are far too kind.

That is a childhood memory that he will treasure for the rest of his life. I can imagine him 20 years from now explaining to his new bride why that hood is going on the bedroom wall above the bed! You're a cool dad!
