Starter issue after pulling the body
Hello Everyone,
I have run into an issue after pulling the body on my car. I am working on the starter and I have 12 volts at the starter solenoid (from ignition switch) when the wire is not connected to the starter. Once I connect the wire to the starter and turn the key, voltage is 0 on that wire.
I always have 12 volts on the connection directly from the battery.
If anyone can provide some guidance I very much appreciate it. Me and my father have been struggling with it.
We do have 12 volts at the clutch position switch and we have manually closed the switch.
Thank you.
Kurt

I have continuity of ground from the starter case to the frame in two locations (at the engine, and at the rear of the car from the battery ground terminal to frame connection).

Since you just did a 'body off', my guess would be that you maybe have a weak ground connection - maybe you painted the frame where the ground attaches? It might be providing enough of a ground for measuring 12 volts at the 'start' wire, but not enough ground connection for the starter current?
