New parking cameras finished
Thought having a front mounted camera might be handy, especially since I have a new air-dam here waiting to be installed (and don't want to use it as an expensive curb feeler)
And if one is good, two must be better so why not have a rear one at the same time.
Looked over many LCD display options and didn't find anything that would work/mount the way I wanted so I found a small rear view mirror with built in LCD.
About 1/4" larger all around but has the same basic shape, here it is with an original sitting inside it
Thicker but I don't care about that
Of course mine mounts to the header instead of the windshield so that needed to be fabricated
Anyway, fits to the original mounts now
For now, the best place I found was on the center bumper brace pointing more or less downward
For the rear, I didn't want to look back as much as right at where the rear of the car was, more like my hitch-cam on the truck, so I made a bracket to tuck up by the licence plate light
Wired the back camera into the reverse lights and the front to a small toggle switch beside the odometer reset and
Rear (yeah that's the garage door, not much room around here) with the image reversed
Front (I turned off those guide lines after taking this picture) Image the right way around
Once I can actually move the car I'll line them up so I can see slightly further front/back but they pivot in their little housings so that's easy enough.
PIA to adapt the mirror but other than that a fairly straight forward install of questionable use.
Next up.... I don't even remember what's next

Great job!!! In 2018 ALL cars will be required to have a back up camera- so you are a head of the curve!!
Who makes that one- the prices are ALL over the map... Just didn't feel comfortable buying one on-line and it being a piece of junk..I've seen them from $100 to a $1000!!!
If the sunvisors are too close- looks like they might be fine- 74-76 are smaller.

Originally I was going to try to interface these cameras with my GPS but when I got looking at it decided to go the mirror route instead.
This is the smallest mirror with the integrated LCD that seems to be available anywhere. Marketed under a few different places they are all the same unit when it comes right down to it. Some call it sub-compact, some compact but after many emails they are all the same. T1600 is the model number if you want to go look (ebay/amazon/etc)
The cameras I got from a different online source, big thing was to make sure they had some low-light capabilities since I'm looking down not back (although with your backup lights that's probably not a problem)
Needed dig into the harness a little to un-reverse the forward image and remove the guide lines (since they don't help much)
Oddly enough those circuits are in the cameras not the display.

Oh, and the sun-visors clear fine on this, as shown, it's only slightly wider than the stock one.
BTW, there are a ton of clip-over style mirrors with LCD screen, might work fine in a newer vehicle but they are 10"+ wide and much taller than the stock mirrors. Ugly from the outside as the clips all show etc.
And create a surprisingly large visual impairment, I was surprised how much it blocked when mocked up just a piece of cardboard and taped it in place.

Looks good! I did the same thing on mine, but use my Kenwood stereo screen for a display. The rear camera I got is a kenwood. It was about $50 and the size of an ice cube. The front camera I found on eBay. It was $6 and non mirror-image so I figured, why not. It is much smaller (like the one you have) and has a really good picture. I wish I had found those earlier since it would be easier to hide.

Thanks!!!
Ok - it's not priced high at all. And the the resolution looks really good!!!
And it'll fit!! Ahhh...but it doesn't have a temp gauge!!!
Now you can get GPS and the camera on the Mirror!!
