Default 78 L82 Project

Sometimes when your not looking for a car, one falls right in your lap. I spotted this one late last night on a local facebook "yard sale" type page. The price seemed too good to be true. But I inquired anyway, figuring it was junk. With only four pictures, it was hard to tell. But the more I talked, the more interested I got. Soon I figured out the car was only about three miles from the house. At this point, I'm in full heat for it. I offered to come look that night(like 11pm) because I knew whoever got there first would buy it. But the person didn't want to show it until 1pm the next day. But they promised I'd be first in line! So I went with it.

Turns out, it was a daughter, selling her late father's car, he had passed away at the first of the year in mid-restoration of the car. Basically, he had done the brakes, fixed all the mechanical issues, new tires, etc, etc, and was getting ready to paint the car.

Its a 78, L82 car. 80k miles, original motor, etc, etc,. It's got awesome dark brown leather interior which is basically like new. It's got a valve cover gasket leaking, so I hadn't drove it much, but I did drive it the three or four miles home. Tight, runs good, very solid car! Check it out!

We've flipped several C3's over the past couple of years trying to find a nice keeper car, but I think this is finally the one. In it for a price that we aren't hurting at all at, definitely a unique enough car to keep.

Immediate plans are to fix the valve cover gasket. Under the hood could use some refreshing up, then moving right along to paint. We don't want to build a show car, just a nice driver. This is definitely a solid platform for that!

Thanks guys! Really looking forward to getting this one on the road. Gonna try and get the valve cover leak fixed tomorrow and then log a few miles on it to make sure there aren't any more bugs to be fixed before making plans at the paint shop!
