I had a 68 with the tilt front end with GT headlights,Z28 rear spoiler, and fastback rear window. It was a L89 motor with speed sensor,PW and rear defroster. I was the 3rd owner( I knew both previous owners). I bougbt the car in 73 for $3200 and sold it in 76 for the same amount. It was in Rockford ,Ill. I wish I still had it. rick

I believe a lot of dealers did all kinds of mods to new cars to get them sold, look at all that motion did to Baldwin chevy new cars, of course Rosin did get in legal trouble for the engine mods.

I also bet that these dealer mods are the origin for the stories of rare factory did this factory did that modded c3's, if the factory did it then it's all cool and special and even purists love it if the dealer did it then it's just another custom c3.

Sorry to bring up an old thread but diggin' C-340. Know I am in the minority but would love to find some NOS.

Anyone have access to a 1979-1984 catalog? Want to see how long this kit persisted.

Rick Mancuso started racing Corvettes in the early 70's. Through his involvement in racing, he became friends with Don Yenko and his Chevrolet dealership became an authorized Yenko dealer. His connections with Yenko, led to him becoming friends with John Greenwood.

In 76-77, Mancuso bought and raced the Greenwood wide body IMSA customer car #007. Racing a Greenwood customer car, led to him becoming a Greenwood dealer.

Mancuso is a Ferrari & McLaren dealer in the Chicago area now, and is currently working with Duntov Motors on building a continuation series of the original Greenwood Corvettes.

My late 70s early 80s catalog has them

,
They were stating long before this 50 state illegal, too low, my 66 had them, i swapped out The to me more dated round units to the quad rectangles, like in those pop up which i happen to have a set of, sure look better than round to me,
You could do your lights in the grill, without ecklers kit, heres where a bunch tell you not to build your car your way,
Lots of junkyard cars have a bucket that would work,

pull up rolling thunders car on here for his idea,

Here is mine now. I might fit round headlamps in the existing fixture temporarily to see if I like round or rectangle better.

Why did you say you want to find them if you already have them, bit leading and confusing,
I personally like rectangle better, if a person likes round not hard to do tge swap...

540, thanks, i guess i am to custom what ncrs is to stock...lol

The buckets in your car the fiberglass part is for rectangle, but if you get round lamps with their metal adjustment bezels they should hook to the same adjustment springs holding in the rectangle bulbs rectangle bezels, might take a stretch or tweak but should swap out, did i convolute that?
Its the reverse for the rectangle pop ups, they went from round to rectangle,

Leading...When you said you wanted the headlight in grill kit, lead me to believe you had none, you really just wanted the round bulb kit and have the rectangle kit already...no big deal, no issue or anything.

Hey Bats, thanks for the post of the head lights from Ecklers. The top of the page, those are my rectangle pop up lights. Bought the kit in 76 cost $135.00 back then. I still have the two page install from some Vette magazine if anybody needs them.

This is Terry Cooks article from Hot Rod Mag in 1975. All credit goes to The Vette Shop (closed), Mr. Cook and Hot Rod Magazine. Its the instructions for the rectangular head light conversion kit. I installed them in 77 and have had no problems.

thanks for the scan post,

I have that write up somewhere and when i first saw the rectangle quads in the flip ups it really blew my mind, i thought this is what gm should have done, at the time the rec quads were new and ecklers was right on them to get away from the dated and bug eyed round lights, that frog eyed look is why i dislike the trendy fia l88 racer lights, to me they are ugly...the quad recs look good, but i know not everyones cup o tea,
