C-8 details ?
The new series corvette scheduled to be "mid-engined" will have a transverse mounted V-12 like the ferrari 308 which was a V-8. The "C" designation as in C-1, C-2, C-3, etc will be dropped. Henceforth, the designation will be "ZZ-1, ZZ-2, ZZ-3, etc. The ZZ is intended to mean Zora Zumar. The Z-06, which has been the top of the line, will be designated ZZ top. I know, this is not really what you wouldn't expect.

Rumors are surfacing that the C8 mid engine Corvette might be a Cadillac.

My advice is not to believe what you might hear. There are always rumors of a "new" Corvette or the "next" Corvette, almost none of them ever acknowledged by GM.

From what I have heard, the first mid-engine Corvettes will be called the ZR-1 or the Zora. It will be introduced in 2018. They need to do it to get all the power to the ground. Maybe the plate on my new Z06 will make sense with the ZZ name. I had it on my C6 Z which had the 427.

I don't think GM ever officially used the C designations. That was an invention of the owners and fans when the C4 came out. Before that, they were solid axles, mid years and sharks. So, we can call it a C8 if we want. GM doesn't care.
