The 2nd to last 78 pace car offered to the public. (Please Read)
Hey all, thanks for reading. I am picking up my new car this weekend. It is pace car number 6,501. I know there are 6,502 of them made, but the first and last ones are in a private collection, with no miles. This car is an L-82, automatic, with CB option, all numbers matching. It sadly has 71k miles on it, which I know is high for a pace car, but it is in overall good shape. I may consider selling the car, but I just wanted a possible opinion as to what it may be worth. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you so much in advance!

that's assuming the next owner (if you decide to sell it) wants more than just an almost last vin numbered production rarity.
30k and up unless it's in need of a bunch or restoration..
What provenance did you get with the car?if not in hand already you can get the original fact-dealer invoice from the GM Archive folks..
out of curiosity, does the option UP6 am/fm CB radio still work properly?.Curious if the pwr antenna is the standard one for opt U75? OR something different..
thanks, Jim

Sadly it has 71k on it... I would say good it has 71k on it. This way you can drive it and still enjoy it. Also, there is more of a chance it was taken care of, unlike the 0-35 mile cars, which have sat all of their life. I know you are buying this for investment and or profit purposes, but I believe they should be driven!

I would not suspect the build number would mean much with the high mileage, seems so many PC's were stashed away with super low miles and the fact they did built a lot of them is hurting the cha ching for people wanting to flip them at the moment...

I personally wouldn't pay more for something that is completely identical to the next in same condition. Reminds me of an article on paper money where Chinese million airs would pay 6 figures for a bill that had a unique serial code for example 11111, 33333 or 123456789
