1978 Corvette stolen from Woodward Dream Cruise
Well that totally sucks...scumbags!
Not mine, but thought I'd pass this story along, maybe someone here will come across it! Feel bad for the owner and I'd feel the same way if it happened with my 96 C4

I hope she finds it! I was there Saturday enjoying the cars. I did see a few with the keys in the ignition. Where they were parked and the crowds, it would have been hard to steal the car, but why take that chance? As many people that were there, it is surprising that no one saw it happening.

Keys in the ignition at a car show tells me that the car an not be driven away.....need a hook to get it.....my cars have been that way for many a decade now..... and yes, I have been a smartass and left keys in the ignition once in a while also.......

She was in a restaurant eating while this happened. Saw the poor girl on the local news - tears in her eyes. She has had the car for more than 20 years, and planned to have it her whole life.
Not sure if the keys were in it...

I was there the whole day but don't remember the Vette. I looked through all my pictures and don't have it there either. Too bad that there are F-Nuts out there that cannot grasp the concept of working hard and earning an honest living. This happens every year although last year, I believe they recovered a Vette that was stolen.

my ''78 SA. is the first car or truck I have ever owned over 50 yrs..that I have been concerned about where/when I park-leave it.

Spotted monday at joy & ward 2pm with no wheels, no engine..I doubt it sat there for two whole days..SO it was somewhere in the interim where thieves took it and removed the engine..Tires/wheels may have been stolen removed when car was towed to final location..?
I can look at street level google images and not a really bad neighborhood where found..Joy Auto Repair is a half block away...a garage with perhaps folks who have tools experience, lift/place to put the car after hours and remove engine..? As many stolen items in detroit daily..there won't be any investigation beyond report and recovery..but Some leg work and detective work and looking at other casaes could probably show more..The car and parts were worth more to resale druggie thieves than 4 alum wheels and tires and a '78 chev 350 engine if it was stock..

Yes that is good news, bad news. Good to have the car back, but bad that it may never be the same. Especially if it was original. Now back to the good news. Its time for a newer engine, different rims, etc.
