Default Parts Shopping at Carlisle

I have found myself in an interesting position this year heading to Carlisle with only one item on my pick up list, three items on my drop off list, and three forum members I am doing some searching for this year.

I will be at Carlisle all day Friday, half a day on Saturday, maybe all day if weather stays as nice as they say it will be.

I live two hours from Carlisle, fyi.

I am looking for Priya, Beau, and Dennis to locate some parts they need. It is not a tough task to look, located, and text them a picture of what I have found. If they want to negotiate a price with the seller, fine by me. If they want me to buy it and reimburse me, fine by me. My point is within reason if you cannot make Carlisle this year and you really need something you can ask me to look for it and if I think I can I will agree to do it and set up arrangements with you directly.

In the case of some members if I located what they want and buy it I will bring it home and pack it up and ship it to them.

So if this is something I can do to help you out with a specific part or parts let me know, be glad to try and help you as much as possible.

I have a Chevy Silverado 2500 and my Sparty trailer in tow this year, so I will have some room.

Let me know if I can help and best regards,

David Howard

David....I'm needing a stereo convector/amp for my '72....(the one with 2 DS-501 resistors) There are a few on ebay with prices including shipping from as cheap as $35 up to about $75. The problem is not knowing if they work or not....The cheaper ones are also the rougher looking ones. I also need the harness that connects the radio to the convector, the one on my radio was cut off.

Only other items I need are driver quality black rear compartment doors....Jack and battery compartment. The overall frame and center door are in pretty good shape.

I'd go.....

$25 for the convector
$15 each for decent doors

Thank You
Brian

PS.....If you are ever on the Interstate 75 corridor 50 or so miles north of Atlanta....Lunch is on me.

Wow David! This is very nice of you!

If you happen to see a killer deal on a '73-'76 stock hood (like around $100 or less) send me a picture. We can meet up somewhere in between Easton and Akron sometime (soon hopefully). As long as the bolt holes and frame are in good shape I don't care much about the appearance. I'll be using it to put a scoop on and cover my wiper area so it will get painted. Don't go out of your way looking for one though, just if you happen to see something, OR if that is too big to cart around don't worry about it.

DAVID..Thank you for your willingness to help..I'm helping a friend in texas find a difficult item for his 1978 pace car..
it came equipped with the AM/FM/ CB radio and he's been working on getting that system all up and functional..NCRS.
Anyhow he's seeking the power antenna specific to that year and system.
every corvette vendor has pwr antennas of one sort or another that work EXCEPT they are NON-CB units. He has all the other components, wiring, splitter relat etc..but needs the specic CB antenna..
He finally found out what the oem part # is..:He sent me this yesterday..His name is TOM JACKSON.. and I think he's going to Carlisle.
After a bit of research, I was able to locate the part number and a pix of the CB version of the power antenna,] PN# 5044887. It does have a "load coil" on the top of the antenna, its a small gray barrel.Unless you are looking for it, its hard to tell the difference between the two antennas!
SO if you happen to run across one let me know..Tom posts here occasionally.. and I have is email and cell phone#..Have fun at Carlisle..Wish I could be there..
I don't do texting by my wife does..503-654-9313.. just caption it 'corvette antenna'.Thanks muchJim

Try Lonestar caliper, they will take them as long as they are AC Delco.

I will keep my eyes open Mike. I have my truck and my trailer so I am pretty certain I will be able to handle one if I find it.
Will let you know.

Spring Carlisle is still a pretty big deal. The GM show has been hurting and not doing as well year on year. Even Corvettes at Carlisle has seen its fair share of struggles, that is why they have added Thursday to the show now, with Sunday being empty of suppliers and vendors. Have to be there Thursday and Friday to avoid missing the good stuff now, Saturday may be too late. Always fun for me, even when the weather does not cooperate. Fall Carlisle can be fun too if the weather holds.
Have a good weekend.

Good morning. It is 07:00 am on Thursday morning and I am loaded for Carlisle and ready to head on down the road, shortly. I have all the requests printed out, also made an itemized list of parts requested, and will begin my search today when I arrive at the fairgrounds.

I do have a front sway bar assembly, four wheel dollies, a snubber bracket, two drive shafts, and two rear grille assemblies I have to deliver and those are all loaded. I am picking up a front air dam for my 72 racer and a 75 body for the 75 restoration project during this visit.

List in hand, money in pockets, motivation in head, camera ready to go, should be a good show.

Thanks to all for the lists, I will do my best to help you in your searches.

Best regards,

David Howard

Dave - it's very nice of you to help everyone out. I'll be up tomorrow and just wanted to drop you a line to say how nice it is of you to help people out.

If anyone in my area needs anything small, let me know and I'll check - (not much room in the C3's for anything big - as we all know)

Glad to help. Where you coming in from? I attended today, not very busy. Hot, humid, then clouded up.

Quick observation from today's shopping. Lots and lots of people are selling C-2 and early C-3 parts this year. Very few 79-82 sellers, lots of 68-73 parts. Mixed bag 74-78. Mostly mechanical stuff, very little interior stuff.
I'll give it another run tomorrow.
David
