We cut out a lot of rust, welded in fresh steel and gave it a quick backyard paintjob when we bought it, though it will need a bit more body work in a couple of areas and some fresh paint soon... Looking alright though, given it virtually never gets washed, isn't garaged, does a lot of driving on dirt, and has done over 200,000km (120,000 miles for those overseas), much of it towing loads, since we bought it. It just gets whatever it needs to keep on working... And maybe a bit more. New engine is a 393 stroker Clevo with lots of good bits. Next on the list is some interior tidyups, maybe aircon. No rush though, it's still just a work truck...
Did you buy the motor as a crate motor?

No, had a local builder do it for us, we pulled it, I roughly specced out what I wanted, had him build and run it in on his engine dyno, then my wife and I reinstalled it at home. I would have built it myself except I was in the middle of building the engine for the Vette and needed the truck back on the road sooner rather than later. Time is something I never seem to have enough of! Crate engines (apart from arguably being questionable in longevity for my kind of high use/abuse...) aren't really available for Clevos. Windsors definitely, but Clevo blocks are becoming more scarce, they haven't made them for ~30 years after all...

So many great vehicles!

I bought 100 pounds of steel roundbar (tubing rusts through too easily)....drew a full-size print with dimensions....ordered a replica S&S Shovelhead engine...machined the headlight.......collected the rest.......a year later........grand daughter loves the sound!

For you HD guys..'71 Superglide FX shovelhead. It's currently dismantled, getting ready to repaint it to factory black. It will be completely stock.

No, I did not paint the scorpion on the fender.
