Needing to replace fan shroud.
Any one that can shed light on quality, originally, compared to the real original.
Are they all made by the same company?.
Thanks
Max

The answer to this is complicated...
If you have the plastic shroud, I'd try to find an original. The reproduction of this shroud is too flexible and not as rigid as the original shrouds. When installed they tend to want to hit the fan blades. We've installed them and every time we have to make a stronger bracket for top to keep the shroud out of the blades.
For cars with the fiberglass shroud is a different story if it's the press molded version (and not the hand laid). It is a good reproduction but the supplier makes them to order which can take up to 8 weeks to get.

Thanks for your response.
The shroud I have is very sturdy, Gray in color with the grain streaks in it.
Based on the apprearance and physical characteristics, it is an original.
Sounds like I may be better to place a few stripes on the areas that are broken.
I did see that canes have a reproduction to match the original. What can you shed on that? Is that your supplier?
Thank you very much

I have the same setup with AC. What made the difference in if you got a big block plastic or fiberglass fan shroud? Mine had a big chunk taken out of the top portion of it. It is a clean break so I assume, but maybe wrongly, its plastic? My is a march 15th 69 car.

Is that classified as fiberglass?

Mine is not A/C.
Am experiencing it over heating.
Just pulled radiator, having it boiled, fins combed, tested, painted.
Will be installing all new radiator/shroud insulation.
Thanks for you input.

Found my mumbers on my fan shroud. Mine appears to be blackish. I also have a picture of the missing chunk from the top of it. Does the numbers indicate plastic or fiberglass?
Done this from my phone.

3956119 is the plastic shroud for sure.
There is (or was, I'm not sure if they are still making it) a fiberglass reproduction version of that shroud that would be a better shroud than the junk reproduction plastic version. This the reason the originals are bring so much money for originals.
