Help in buying a distant car
How does a member go about buying a car from another member (unknown member)? Is there a proper way to inquire for help from a trustworthy member to verify it is as presented and not a scam. I don't want to just send money to this guy.

Hi t,
This situation actually happens quite often.
Often the prospective buyer starts a thread stating the area the car is located in and it's year.
Generally the poster asks for help looking at the car from another member if the $$ involved isn't too great, but, if a considerable amount of $$ is involved they often ask for suggestions of a more qualified person to look at the car and they pay that person for his expertise and time.
Good Luck!
Regards,
Alan

Just did this. Sold my car to a new member, he was understandably cautious. We talked, I sent him pics and put him in contact with a couple guys in here that know me. Helped that I have been in here a long time. So he has the car and is apparently happy with the deal.
Having someone local to go check out the car is a big help, I have done so for several guys

I've always started by contacting the local NCRS chapter closest to the location of the car to see if they have any members that might be interested in taking a look for me. I did this with both my '67 as well as my '72.

Look first then buy
I'm in full agreement with no money till in person.
Just never have bought anything distant such as the 1973 red one advertised. If it is as advertised great. The pics need explaining for me. But who knows maybe its legit. I've been wanting a 73 like this one so I'll keep lurking and learn from this thread.
thank you for your input.
