The 454 AC fan was only a big block thing. I haven't seen a small block with a 7 blade for 1970, not say it doesn't exist. The shaft size and bolt pattern changed on later water pumps, think it was 1971. The LT-1 and L46 non air seem to use the same fan as well.
I put my AC back while the body was on, and fortunately while engine was still out. It wasn't that bad, but there are more pleasant things. We have two 1970 Corvettes apart currently and have been that way since around 1995. I'm trying to spur progress on them again, now that my car is together.
If you can get a few things done each week, you will get there.

Just a couple of minor items to checkoff/disconnect and I'll be able to remove the body. I'm really looking forward to reaching that goal.
This project is a wonderful education for me.

Hi c,
Very nice to see your up-date!
Getting the body off the chassis can really change things…….
First and most obvious, is that the access to ALL parts of the car improves dramatically to the point that you can reach 'almost' everything.
Second, it allows the job to be separated into two parts both physically AND in your mind…. the drive train/chassis and the body/exterior.
I found that it sharpened my focus, which seemed to help the job be more pleasurable.
Good Luck as you continue!
Regards,
Alan

Since that time I've mulled over numerous directions on my rebuild and I may ( still mulling ) choose to go with a radiator ( which I need to replace ) and electric fan assembly. BTW, I paid $ 400.00 dollars for the 7 blade only to find it didn't fit the WP shaft bolts ( different bolt pattern), I'm convinced that the 5 blade was for 300hp/350hp w A/C and the 7 blade for the 454 w A/C could also have been a supply side issue early in 70'. The company allowed the return of the unit because I was in need of another item. Worked out.
Thank you for your input though.

A few pic's of the Air inlet valve stuck in the passenger fender well of all places ( follow the green vacuum line ). I used a mirror, 1/4" ratchet with a extension/5/16" socket, a mirror, ( two small white towels to keep the screws from going to an unreachable spot, you'll see what I mean if you care to look ) a telescoping magnet and light to remove this joyful Air intake Valve and Flap.
Outside Air intake in cowl (wiper trough) under fender/passenger side
1970/Outside Air Valve and flap.<br/>Not simple to remove, patience is required, manipulating the unit out of it's location is possible.
Green Vacuum hose runs from the interior console through the firewall to the Outside Air Valve.

Well I've begun to remove the "Body Retaining Bolts". Had to Sawzall the #4 drivers side, not to bad. #3 Drivers side forced me to go to HF and pick up a Battery operated ratchet after getting it loosened ( I've got to invest in a worthy Air Compressor I know. ) Amazing what 47 years did to the Aluminum bushing(s).

My # 4 on the drivers side would just spin, I soaked the nut from inside the cockpit for 2 weeks the knocked the cage off the nut and put a socket on it and had a friend with breaker bars on top and bottom and removed it. Guess I could have cut it and pushed it up also.
The Passenger side came off with no issues...

I have the exact same gantry here , works wonders , makes lifting so much easier than the engine crane method .
Looking forward to seeing the lift happen .
Looks like your not planning to do any work under the body by the height of that cradle ?

Hi c,
ALWAYS looking for clues!!!
I see that little bit of 'bright' plating on the #3 body mount bolt!!!
Protected, for all these years, where the bolt went through the steel of the mount itself?
Regards,
Alan

Hi c,
Fairly often a 'circle' of the shim tape has survived at each mount that was protected by the contact of the body to the frame mount.

Alan

Finished removing "all" mounting bolts. Only had small issue with both #4 bolts that just required a sawzall to remove easily. I am truly blessed !
