Always nice to see something coming together. Also working with new or cleaned parts. Looks great.

I'll just say it can cost a little or it can cost a lot just depends on what you want your car to be. Hope some of what I post helps you in some way.

It will help a lot. The 73 I picked up is an all original California car. It has very little rust, I bought it from a woman in Torrance. I am a little south of you in OC.
The links, pics and info in this thread will save me and others I'm sure a lot of time.

If you have pictures of it's present condition please post them ( inside, under, all over ). Before you "go to change the fuse" check with me first.

I am ordering some jacks tonight so I can get it off the ground and take a better look under it. I am a toolmaker with access to a machine shop for anything I might need. My biggest concern is room. I have it in my 2 car garage and can make more room if needed but if I decide to take the body off it will be tight.
I posted some pics in my introduction thread https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...-owner-c3.html

For novices like me embarking on installing or repairing Trunion(s),U joints & half shafts like I will be soon here is a page to figure it out.http://www.secondchancegarage.com/pu...ft-u-joint.cfm
I'm not quite sue of the "tool" used as I have something else and if it works I'll post it. Fingers crossed.

Thanks. Can't wait to get back at it. Rear suspension, half shafts next. A ways to go yet but that's what makes it a fun project.
Really like your inventiveness, makes me "think" as I progress on my project.

Ok, a redo. I made a pattern of the rear CORVETTE emblem today from my 1970 Coupe.

Fold over 3 sheets of paper and drop 2 inside the other to create a roughly 25" length of a banner/pattern. Use scotch tape on two seams.

Take a piece of masking tape and across the very top of the license plate opening lay the tape for a line to follow.

2 3/4" Above the plate opening is the "bottom" line the letters sit on. Mark a couple of spots and either draw or use masking tape (Blue) to create a line to follow.

Edge to Edge of the Tailights is 22" / 3 1/4" from the side is the first letter "C" followed 3/4" separation to the side of the "O" same for the "R"

From the side top of the "R" to the top angled line of the "V" is 3/4" same for the "E" and "T"(s) and the last "E"

It should layout 3 1/4" on each side evenly. (within reason )

Drill bit sizes: 3/32" for the small hole 1/8" for the larger hole

Great progress, love the trailing arm support system. I did not look if the rear emblem holes on my Vette had been lost in bodywork when I was last at painter so that information may be very useful as well.

Well I learned a few things today while installing the half shafts. One was to use a piece of 5/8" SS rod I had to slide through the front yoke (with flanges hand tightened) and over the trailing arm allowed me to use this as a backup to tighten the hub bolts. Secondly the infamous "French Locks", I used battery powered ratchet to drive in the bolts ( used a dab of blue removable thread locker on each one ) I forgot to use a dab of Never Seize behind the bolt head to help refrain from twisting the French lock, lucky no issues for me, then used a standard blade screwdriver/slash chisel (lol) to drive one tab on the French lock back to allow for a flush connection with the socket. Using a yellow crayon I marked all bolts that were tightened and bent one tab over. I figured the torque called for maximum of 90 ft lbs minus 20% for the thread locker so I set my wrench to 70 ft lbs. Side yoke U bolts are 14 ft lbs.

Well I finished the installation of my Speeddirect Sharkbite suspension. Looks good and hope one day I get to test it out, LOL !
Had to make adjustments as I installed it and learned some things along the way. No harm, no foul.
