I fell for the click bait; and I only feel a little terrible about it. ;-)

Another editing fail.

From the article: "Then again, for some, the C3 Coal Runner might be a welcomed whiff of a different kind of old-school power, a reminder of a period when things like turbo-charged engines and battery-operated vehicles weren’t even tangible ideas in the world of transportation."

This car has a turbo.

You guys are way to judgemental.

"Dare to be different" they say. Just not on The Corvette Forums

I'd take that car in a heartbeat!

11 seconds is not fast anymore. With that car, a turbo'd or blown rat or LS engine would serve him much better if his object was to go fast.

11.88? A stock base automatic C7 will do about that, probably a lot cheaper. Not sure the appeal here, but different strokes for different folks.. I guess.

That sucka sure does smoke though, if you are into that sort of thing.

Well first of all- this is old news... about 6 years old-

The FB page was LAST updated 6 years ago....

https://www.facebook.com/lbdp.diesel...2663769&type=3

Jalopnic article 11/09

http://jalopnik.com/5415407/mad-man-...to-68-corvette

Engine Swap Depot article- 5/10

http://www.engineswapdepot.com/?p=1082&

But WOW- no love for somebody taking a wrecked 68 and getting back on the road ( or rather dragstrip)!!!

The guy builds diesels for a living- and does the "pulling trucks" so why not?

Plus it looks like it put together pretty well-

I grew up in the farm lands of southern Michigan. This is where we put big block V8s into farm tractors, and bolt car bodies onto Chevy Blazer frames.
So I have an appreciation for these type of creations that some seem to see as an abortion. But if somebody takes pieces of what would otherwise be junk, and puts them together to become a unique, operating vehicle again.... they at least deserve recognition for the thought, engineering, ambition, money, and time it took to build it.
And I agree with Bats.... just because I like or dislike something, does not increase or decrease it`s value to anyone else but me.

No one on this forum stands up more for lovers of custom and support of modifying and build what you want than i do...i also am not so stupid that i try to make people love every modded build out there things like tacky or taste are personal subjective things but we all dont have to like every build...in this case the build seems top shelf thats great no one can call it hack jobbed and my remark that i make about a lot if cars, if i had to keep it i wouldnt take it for free extends to cars like the new c7...unlike some of you i can only afford one specialty car and i have it my 69 if i took something else for free i had to keep i would have to flip my 69 not gonna happen,
I dont want the owner of a car i dont like to feel badly, i dont feel bad if you hate my 69, they love their build as i love mine.
We dont all have to like everything.
But i do find something i like in almost every build out there.

To each their own. It does look like it's very well done. People comment on a big block being nose heavy. Really?

Doing diesel trucks for a living is fine; I use them at work to pull trailers. But our trucks don't blow black smoke all over the place. They also aren't ten feet tall with bright blue LED lights right at eye level. I hate those trucks, and I feel this Corvette would appeal to that crowd.

The fact that everyone is using "Rolling Coal" as attention grabbers for this car irritates me. In the videos shown the car has issues, but smoke is NOT a goal that the car was built with. They take track runs to represent this car that in normal driving does not smoke at all.

If you're into doing what everyone else has done and following the crowd. I guess that is fine, but when you would like to incorporate multiple faucets of your life into one thing. May as well give it a go and say you stepped outside the box instead of taking the same ol' same and getting the same results as everyone else across the country.

You're correct, 11s aren't fast especially with the setup in that car. Someday the bugs will get worked out if time is ever available.

EXACTLY!!!

The first time I saw the unearthing of these ancient videos of the car, my first thought was, "where the heck were these people 8 years ago when we were thrashing on this thing and my brother was sinking all his time and money into that he could spare?"

It has even made a couple appearances in magazines before this internet blow up lately. As of Sept' of 2015 it had a full article written on it after a race in Indy in 2014

https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?f...ize=900%2C1600

The car hasn't had much love in the past 4 years as life has happened, but I am glad one of the main objectives of the build is still being achieved... Getting attention for a unique build that people never would thought could be possible.

Bats- Yours aren't the worst opinions ever uttered about the car. Die Hard number matching Vette lovers have said much more hate and it's very entertaining to watch at car shows and listen.

I don't see harm in your opinion as I have said much worse about the car at times

It's been a very long time since it ever has seen scales but IIRC the front end only has somewhere around 15-1700lbs on it. Was kind of surprising at the almost balanced weight distribution Ryan was able to get.

Neither does the Corvette when it's not racing and for me it's actually quite fun to drive on the street

Cummings,
Very well thought out and said, thanks for understanding my remarks in the non hate way i meant them, we all like different stuff,
I can tell you are the type cat i could part next to at a cruise or show and we could laugh at pustists getting knots in their panties over both our cars and really have fun pointing out your diesel is faster than my bb,
Cheers,
Bats
