After reading the thread, I'm not really sure what the question is. Can someone post exactly what the mystery is and what you're trying to figure out? (I haven't had any coffee yet, so I might just be a bit dense this a.m. )

What do you want to know? Yes the dealership was there. When they went out of business I'm not really sure, but it shouldn't be that hard to find out.

The mystery is the OP was asking if anyone had any info on the SM Rose dealership on Fordham road in the Bronx. He bought an 82 Vette from there. The mystery is, from 1980 to 1984 I worked about 50 feet away and I have no recollection of it being an active dealership. I have a very good memory and was/am a big car guy. I would have remembered the dealership if it were open as the new 82 Camaro and 84 Vettes were eagerly awaited by everyone back then. We're trying to figure out when the dealership went out of business, or if they moved their operation off the Fordham Road store. So, if it wasn't an active dealership from 1980 forward, how did the OP buy an 82 Vette from them?

according to the link below the dealership opened in 1956 and existed for 35 years which equals 1991 but he died in 1990, so it was 34 1/2
http://www.nytimes.com/1990/06/03/ob...-salesman.html

state of NY corporate search has a 1991 and 1996 date

Thanks for the replies.
The only thing I can think of, is that during that time, nobody in that neighborhood was buying Vettes or Camaro's so there were none in the showroom. They didn't have a lot either...

Based on the picture posted, it doesn't look like they had too big of a facility. Was the service department "around the corner" of the building that's pictured?

My 1982 build sheet shows it was delivered to Rose dealership, probably in early August since start of build was 07-28-1982. My original window sticker shows S. M. Rose as does the Warranty Card dated 6/3/1983 (that's right, 1983!)

I've been reading through this thread, but never really paid attention to the name and address on the warranty card that you posted, until today. Are you located in the Rochester, NY area?

The layout of the dealership was a smallish showroom that fronted Fordham road, which is an extremely busy thorofare. The service bays were above the showroom on a second/third floor, and access to it was on the side street. There was no lot that I can remember. The cars were stored upstairs or on a rooftop lot.

Talk about an "old time" car dealership, compared to the sprawling, "cookie cutter" mega-lots of today.....

I didn't know where you're located, so out of curiosity, I browsed the Monroe County Clerk's website. The original owner of your car lived at the address printed on your warranty card, until his death in 2011. Why he went all the way to NYC to buy the car, is probably an interesting story.....
