NY Corvette Dealer in early 1980
My 82 Vette was delivered to S. M. Rose Corporation, 573 E. Fordham Road, Bronx, NY. Shipping address was 410 E. 200 Street. It was a Zone 27 and 231 dealer. My Corvette was built in early August 1982 and sold in June 1983 (have window sticker). Any one have information on this dealer?

My first experience with them was in Feburary of 1973 with their sales department. At that time I was 24 years old and looked like I was 16. I was looking for a 1968 to 1972 Corvette and the salesman said they didnt have any and quite obnoxioulsy asked the sales manager if I counted as an "UP"
My next experience with them was in 1978. i went for a job interview there for the position of assistant service manager. They put me in an office with the interviewer and had me sit in a chair next to a wall where quite conspicuously was located a intercom system. Pretty obvious someone else was listening in on our conversation. Ended up working somewhere else.

Bj61662,
I lived off of Fordham Rd. I attended Fordham University from 1980-84 and worked a few doors down from SM Rose at a tire shop. I walked to class and work everyday for those 4 years and can't remember ever seeing it as a viable business in those years. I do remember those SM Rose badges on many of the cars in my neighborhood growing up. That area of Fordham Road had a vibrant Auto business economy. There were Dick Gidron Cadillac, who sold Deloreans too! There was a Chrysler dealership on the next block, and a Ford Dealership shared a common lot with the tire shop I worked at. I honestly don't remember seeing SM Rose open,,,I would have definately had vivid memories of walking by the showroom to check out the new Vette (1984) and especially the anxiously awaited 1982 Camaro. Perhaps they moved their showroom somewhere else, but I have no memeory of it, and I have a very good memory. My guess is they shut down sometime in the late 70's
As far as your car sitting on the showroom floor for so long, the Bronx is not an ideal place to drive a Corvette...back then there were a ton of potholes, and crime, parking was a bitch and not too many people in that neighborhood would buy a Vette. Also the "New " 84 Vette was on the horizon so everyone was anticipating that reveal.

Another funny story about that place and time. One day, right after The "1984" Vette was unveiled, a brand new one drives up to my old tire shop. We rarely saw new cars in the shop, usually old beaters. A young guy Spanish guy steps out of the car and walks into the office to talk to my boss. A few minutes later my boss tells me to go upstairs (where we stored the tires) and grab 4 "Vogue" tires and chrome fake wire wheels. After I brought them down I was told to install these wide whitewall tires, with an accompanying thin gold stripe as well and those hideous fake chrome wire basket wheels on to the Vette! I started to talk to the owner and told him about how the stock turbine wheels (they were fugging ugly) and the Omni-directional Goodyears were engineered for the Corvette for performance, handling etc..he told me that the real owner was the famous boxer Hector "Macho" Camacho and he didn't like the stock wheels...they were ugly, but the Vette looked ridiculous as it drove away

Vogue Tires are still around believe or not and in sizes up to 22".
Fortunately the basket wheel craze died.

I've tried several search engines with no results.

Still researching S.M. Rose
After seeing video from MARANT212, I'm more interesting in finding out about this Bronx Chevrolet. Build sheet shows delivery to this dealer and Warranty Card shows the same; see attachment.

How did you come up with Bronx Chevrolet after seeing the video? The video showed SM Rose Chevrolet which was located in the Bronx.

69TTop502,
yup, that was my Mom's Vette!!! I'm fascinated by this thread because I have no recollections of ever seeing new Cars at the SM Rose dealership from 80-84...yet guys have invoices and build sheets. I know I would have purposely walked by there every day just to see the new cars, its a mystery...especially, as I said before, the new 82 Camaro's and the 84 Vette were anxiously awaited for by every car crazed kid back then.

Keep us updated. There is another member here whose screen name is Brx---- something. Wish he saw this thread, he may be able to solve the mystery. Like I said, SM Rose's showroom was less than a block away from my shop and I never saw a car there..pretty sure the rug place was there.
