1976 Side Emblems
I'm getting ready to paint my 76. I'm planning to replace all the emblems. I'm having a problem figuring out which Stingray emblems I need. Everything I have read refers to either 3 post or 4 post. I can only find 2 post sticking through the fender on the inside. They appear to only be guide post, as there is no speed nuts on them, nor do they look like they stick out far enough to put a speed nut on them. Anyone have any suggestions?

The 74-76 "Stingray" script has 3 short posts, that are only used to locate the emblem on the fender. The 74-76 emblem is held in place by double sided tape. The 3 posts are located at both ends of the "S", and in the middle of the rear edge of the "Y". I think that the pin at the lower end of the S, may be off to the right of your picture.
69-73 Stingray script has 4 long posts, that get speed nuts on them, though the repro's come with double sided tape.

I very carefully removed my emblems (3 pin) back in 2004 when I had my car painted. Cleaned off all the double sided tape. When the car came back from paint, I just pushed the emblems back into place without the tape. There is enough friction to hold them in place. Left them like that.
So now, I can take them off (very gently) to wash and wax the car. Been doing that for 13 years with no problems.

Thanks for the information. Absolutely correct. I could not see the 3rd pun on the inside of the fender, but once removed, it was a 3 pin emblem. Always appreciate the information.
