It will be a little closer to a gold color. BTW WBY was the most popular color in '71.
I too am a black paint guy. My daily driver (not so much now that my oldest is driving and I get to drive the Vette ) is a black Cobalt SS and my wife drives a black '15 Explorer.

Other than pink and the ricer wing it's not bad. Not sure I like the tail lights though.

"modded C3's I like"

I prefer modded subtle/tasteful changes over bone stock original. Not into the over the top full on Kustoms.

brent319's car nails my preference, as a great example of a modified tasteful C3.

Now, how about posting your c3....i want to see who you like enough to own.
As a person who had custom cars through the 80s, owning a custom comes with the territory of various opinions.

These cars are designed specifically to get maximum attention and reaction. A person who owns the car in the OP simply cannot complain about "negativity" when someone doesnt like his taste.

Its also true that when you post restomodded C2s in that section some people there say they ruined a midyear, while restomod fans love and defend them vociferously.

What's left out of that equasion is the exact same debate goes on as well over fully bone stock cars.

Both sides have every right to voice their opinions without having to defend themselves over claims of negativity or having to post something of theirs. Its OK not to like something, whether extremely radical or 100% stock. It's also OK to disagree.

It is odd that this seems to be the 4th thread very recently using this same car design as a poster child for bad taste, though. Has it been featured in a national event or something?

Sorry, i wasnt asking for people to defend their right to be negative about a car, taste is subjective i dont like every custom out there, i know from number of replies people love this type thread, and i know all of us have the right to post our opinions even when they differ, heck i think a big sticky of all time tacky c3s would be great fun, it could be right next to all time coolest modded c3s a ying yang type idea,
Some cars would cross over make both lists.

when i asked to see peoples personal cars or cars they liked i admit it was to steer to a more positive vibe, which it actually in my opinion did,

I have no clue why the focus on the odd neo classic body kits lately, they never were very popular even in their day and fairy rare and obscure,

I recall a long while back it happened with wide bodies, one thread liked them the other not so much.

No fears of a thread liking the neo classic kits popping up though...

Not even going to dis these people, To each his/her own.

Most of those aren't my cup of tea.

Heck, I think my C5 is beautiful without ANY mods to the body...lol

Do people do radical mods to c5s, i actually have no clue.

That black restro mod above with the sick wide rear wheels, i have seen it before know zero about it, would it drive around city streets very well?

This is a few months after I got it:

And now:

One day when I do all the body work it needs (10 foot paint job ) I want to go with the Indy pace car spoiler on the front but keep the chrome bumper. Then I want to modify my stock hood to resemble the stinger hoods found on C2 big block cars and remove the luggage rack.
I love that color. I even love the NAME of the color. "War Bonnet Yellow" I wonder what are the origins of the name?

We had 2 corvette wagons, a "Motion round headlight clone" , C4 with the flat rear window, C2 with the duct tail and roll bar, C2 gasser show up at a fall car meet.

The 60's and 70's were strange times. The show cars were very strange, I would guess interesting in the day, no so much now.

I don't like it either but I can see how it might appeal to some people.

You know rust just scares the hell out of me, it turns a sharp looking c3 into a parts car or worse really quickly,
I am too OCD to have any rust, but if i found a nice family truckster vette, the wagon back at a good deal might just get in trouble.
