Default dimmer switch rod in the steering column

on my 1980 corvette the dimmer switch rod is not connected to anything I think it's all bent out of shape how does it hook up to the dimmer switch.

The rod slips into the top of the switch
Here is the rod out of the switch

Default accuator rod to turn signal hookup

Thank you for the pics very helpful the other problem I'm having is how the accuator rod connects to the turn signal lever any help would be greatly appreicated

where does the rod connect to at the other end, I have no piece that attaches to the pawl on the arm
