Default Heater duct drivers side

My car was missing the some of the heater ducts when I got it. I bought some off of eBay last year but the drivers side seems to be a few inches short. Does anyone know if the ducts may be different lengths from 78 -82 I double checked my instal on the other section and everything looks correct. My only guess is that they may have changed lengths along the way and I bought or got sent the wrong duct.would

Technically, that's a air conditioning duct, not a heater duct.

My 1980 and 1982 Corvette Parts Books show just one left hand AC duct for all 78-82 Corvettes, part number 14004949.

I can see that there is a part number molded into that duct, but I can't make it out. What is the part number? If it is 3949987, it's a 74-77 duct. I know it's not a 68-73 duct, because they have a round vent in the bottom of them.

The distribution duct it attaches to may be mispositioned. It's not very well attached to begin with and prone to dislocation when installing the gauge pack and other ducts. You'll have to remove the gauge pack to see. While the gauge pack can be removed by itself it's easy to damage things. It's a lot more work but I still prefer to remove the parking brake cover and shifter console first. While in there, check the defroster duct behind the A/C plenum. I had to tape mine together with some aluminum duct tape.

The drivers side air duct is part number 14004950. The center duct 14004950 I looked it over again and it is in the correct position. Thanks for your help so far.

Mines a 72 but done the same thing and came apart. I just got some double sided tape and put that on the inlet side and squeezed it together. You don't look like you need much out of it to get it to work.

Thanks I checked the position and it looks correct. My center gauge cluster is out so it was easy to see. Thanks though for trying to help me!

Yeah just a sleeve over it would do the job.

I cheated mine together with a piece of automotive flex duct. Never thought of cutting another one.
