Went to see my baby today
Well, not mine yet but hopefully in a couple of weeks when some back-ordered parts arrive. 71 LS5 with most options but period correct NOM. Originally Steel Cities Gray but black for now. It is being restored locally and I felt like I was in a museum today with all the other cars there being worked on. Anyone know what the 487 written on the floor means?

487 is the job number for your car. It could also be on the passenger's toe kick under the hood and on the back wall of the rear compartment facing the fuel tank.
It may or may not be tied to your VIN. Take the last three digits of the VIN and subtract 500 from it. Do you get 487?

Thanks, it checked off all the boxes for me or at least it will when it's back to factory colour.
Yes, the more I hear about the owner the more respect I have for him. And my guess is that he wouldn't want his shop or name published but he does really nice work.

Hi ST,
You must be VERY excited!!!
That certainly is quite a garage!!!!
What a group of cars!
Do you think of ANYTHING but the 71 in your future?
I hope the time goes quickly.
Regards,
Alan
The job number was written in pencil on the Corvette Order Copy glued to the top of the gas tank. Has there been any talk about the tank sheet on this car?

Alan,
No tank sticker (anywhere) on this one. They replaced the tank but the one that was in there did not have it. It was originally a US car but I think it has been sitting in a tobacco processing building up here for about ten years. I will try to dig up more history once I own it. I'd be lying if I told you there haven't been a couple of sleepless nights thinking about the first ride in that thing. It was very hard to come home today and do an oil change on my 4 stroke snowmobile which is for sale due to crappy winters and the new toy coming soon.

Brother, my 71 spent allot of time in that shop. A few times, it was towed there right off the 401 This is by far the best Vette specialist in the city. A bit pricey, but worth the top notch job you receive. Did he talk you in to a 5 speed conversion yet? lol. Tell B---- that Ernest says hello.

The interior is in and it was so close to being done but then there was a small vibration in the motor. All external sources were eliminated so now it is being pulled for internal inspection.... I feel like a kid who was just told that Christmas is in February this year.

My car should be ready this week- can't wait! Last time I visited I counted about 9 cars outside and another 8 inside. Always fun to see what is being worked on.
