Tank sticker before and after restoration
Several years ago I recovered the tank sticker for my 69 vette. After having the original cleaned and preserved I had it digitally restored. Take a look at the before and after.
Here is who restored it:

Hi a76,
Very interesting!
Is the photo of the original what the sheet looks like now?
I'm not sure though just what I'm looking at in the 4 after (I assume) examples.
Could you explain what each of them is?
Regards,
Alan
The sheet describes a VERY nice car!!!!

Thank you Alan! Yes, the first picture is how the sheet currently looks. The following four pictures are what it would look like with and without the black marks on it under different shading.

That is an interesting reproduction.
If it were mine, I would probably want the handwritten "371" to remain on the reproduction.
This is probably a sequence number that may be found hand written on various original panels.
There was another thread earlier this week that discussed these markings.
Edit: Here's a link to that thread...

There are mistakes. For one, under the Comfort and Con section the "positraction" line should have the ratio number in it. Its missing. If you look at the real sticker, you will see that the posi line is the same typed length plus one character as it is in the above and below sections. The extra character comes from a space in the lower section between the word "ratio" and the number itself. In other words, the above "axle" line will read 336RATIO at the end, but the lower posi line reads 336 RATIO which adds the extra character space.
Also, I think the "order number" is a bit odd. Almost all 69s started with the letter A. And I'm guessing you guessed at the Ident number?
Also the hand written in "371" is missing from the upper right.

OK, so the sheet is not actually "restored," it remains as is. You have had another sheet reproduced, right?

I have seen companies that can actually restore the real documents. The process is pretty expensive. The companies somehow reconnect the tears in the paper by reattaching the paper fibers. I believe they wet them and then carefully under strong magnification "reglue" or rebond the paper using the process used in first making the original paper. These guys are considered artists in there own right. They don't create anything, just restore what's there. I've seen them do a tank sticker and it was pretty amazing. The name of the company was Graphic Conservation Company.
