Final product after 10 years
After 10 years I feel that I am done. I paid too much for the original piece of crap. Was missing many many parts.
It sat on blocks from 1979-2006 before I bought it. EVERYTHING is new or rebuilt except the seats. I did it all myself except for the short block, powder coated frame and the rag top. Including the paint! Incredibly rewarding and frustrating. I could not have done this without the Forum and the internet!
I consider it a tasteful resto mod.
Numbers matching engine
Correct Lemans blue
383 stroker
cammed for low end punch
close ratio 4 speed trans
3.70 rear end
2 tops
Vette Brakes and Products suspension with Bilsteens
Stans headers
all new wiring
And everything else!
Watch the videos at the bottom for the best pictures!

That's the dream!
Way to go. I hope to find mine in half as good of shape when I get done! Congratulations. Let me know if you have any leftover parts you need to unload! Looking for that upper radiator shroud bracket for my 68.

Well It's a long time and at times it probably felt like forever but the results are spectacular. Well done!

Wow! Congrats! Looks great! You should be proud of all that hard work you have put into it. The hours of cleaning parts, rebuilding things are worth it now! Enjoy the fruit of your labors!

Very nice, Glad i am not the only one on here who feels he paid too much for his project. LOL Nice looking car, you did a great job. Love the colour combo, and the tire and wheels, great stance. On and on man great car.

Thanks for showing some of us that it CAN BE DONE, even if it takes a long time. I am in the middle of my resto, getting ready to start the wiring, then crossing my fingers that it all works. Funny how life keeps getting in the way of doing some long term project like this. The hardest part for me, so far, has been answering people when they say "Howya comin on the vet?". Mine was supposed to be done to go on a second honeymoon for our 40th anniversary ( last July). Now I don't set a completion date anymore. After 3 years I find myself dying to get out to the garage, even though there are other things that need to be done around the house. So I guess that is still a good thing. Thanks again and congrats on your build.

Hi AW,
What a terrific looking 68 convertible!
Your car looks to be a very special one because of the effort you've put into it all these years!
You must be very pleased with the results.
I truly agree with what you wrote in post #13 and consider it an excellent description of an approach to what can seem like an overwhelming project!
I hope the car gives you lots of pleasure and that you get enjoyment from 'tending' it now.
Well Done!!
Regards,
Alan

Congratulations on a job WELL DONE!
Thank you for sharing the photos and videos of your beautiful '68. As stated above many of us share your same feelings of initially spending too much on our cars, myself included. You should feel so proud of your accomplishment. Your hard work and dedication to completing the restoration has definitely paid off. When you perform all /most of the work on these cars yourself and see the final result like yours there is no better feeling in the world. I think it also creates a special bond between you and the car making it just another family member. (Does that make any sense?) Anyone can go buy a car that is already restored, and that's ok too, but there is just something special about working and turning the wrenches on them yourself. I like the license plate and the subtle addition of the new Stingray fender emblems.:thumbs
Now that it's finished I hope you take the time to enjoy it and DRIVE IT!
Best of luck!
