The Motorama Nomad, along with the 55-57 production Nomad's, are among my favorite car designs of all time.
The fastback in the second picture, is the Motorama Corvair. Forum members Brett Henderson and Mike Terry, built an absolutely beautiful replica of the Corvair a few years ago. Here's a picture of Mike's Corvair, and a link to an article about it.

Chevrolet did build the first SUV, but it wasn't the Motorama Nomad. The Suburban has been in production since the 1935!

Hi gbv,
2 very nice photos!!!
It 'appears' the 35 has only 2 doors (except for I guess a rear door or doors)….did it have a 'back' seat?
Regards,
Alan

Hi tom,
I was just becoming interested in cars when those models were in the magazines… I really 'drooled' over them.
Thanks!
Regards,
Alan

The Horton Museum in Nacona Texas has one that looks like the original, but I believe it was built using a Nomad wagon. It is a steel car, as I believe the original was.

Damm, I like it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It came out 8 years before I was born.
I never knew it existed.
Where do these real cars end up.
I hope there is a GM vault some where?
Thanks for some excitement today.

Does anyone know if this is a clone, it surely can't be the original? I have a buddy that took a picture of this car while it was driving down a city street in California.

FYI Superior Glass Works offers the "54 Sport Wagon" as a body package for 60K or a rolling package for 99.5K.

I never cared for the early corvettes until the 1956's . I would like the wagon in the early version though. Very cool. Actually nicer than the later version of the Nomad.

Here is the same Nomad that I posted above. The photo was taken last March by a buddy in Long Beach on Corson St. just before the 605.
Thanks for the links 3JsVette.

Examples of reproductions of the Corvette Nomad concept are not entirely rare. I took this picture at Carlisle, 2009 and Ive seen the cars here and there at shows:
