Matching Numbers 1973 454 Auto Coupe
Hi All,
I'm looking to sell my 73 454 auto 84k miles. Before I advertise, I'd like to verify matching and/or other keys numbers. Here are the particulars.
VIN: 1Z37Z3S404472
Block numbers: 13S404472 - What does the 1 stand for? The other number is T0925CWR. I know CWR=auto trans, but do the other numbers mean anything?
Production sticker date is 10/72 which matches Chevy’s production number range.
Color trim code 404 matches my black leather interior.
Paint code 914. The 14 matches the silver color. Does the 9 have any meaning?
What / where are other key “matching” numbers located? I know the carburetor was replaced, but pretty sure all other major components or original.
Thanks

Hi RD,
The '1Z' in the serial number indicates... Corvette.
Regards,
Alan

Hi R D,
There are many parts that because of part numbers, date codes, stamped information, and configuration CAN be considered parts of "numbers matching".
Here are a few examples:
Engine compartment:
carburator
Intake manifold
heads
exhaust manifolds
water pump
starter
fan clutch
radiator
master cylinder
Chassis:
frame stamp
transmission
rear differential
Interior:
(Can't be seen unless the car is disassembled)
seat frames
seat covers
door soft trim
carpet
gauges
seat belts
Exterior:
windshield
side and rear glass
lenses
exhaust extensions
trim rings
Many folks don't care about any numbers beyond what's stamped on the engine pad… but a few do.
Regards,
Alan
Take a look at the for sale ad by Toylman for his 70 LT-! convertible.
He's done a nice job documenting the original parts on his car.

Hi Ran-D;
the number 13S404472 is your Vin Derivative no.
1=Chevrolet car line
3= 1973
S=St. Louis Plant
404472 production no.
Look at the bottom of the distributor where it goes into the block, there should be a metal tag around the shaft 1973 454 should have
11120510n the tag . Hope this helps.

Found it
Found the matching number . I had to drop/pull the exhaust pipes out of the way so I could clean and read the numbers. Thank you all helpful posts.
