radio antenna motor fuse??
I have been keeping the battery unconnected while restoring my 79
I put the battery on line and the antenna motor started running, The antenna does not go up, maybe a stripped gearing??
Is there a fuse to isolated it?
Is there another switch to turn it off??
Thanks

If you have a stock power antenna, it gets it's power from the on/off **** on the radio. Turn the radio off and the antenna retracts.

White wire is 'on all the time' grey is the signal wire to the antenna, the black is the ground.
Sounds like the relay.

In '79 the power antenna gets is power from the CTSY fuse. It needs constant power so that it can retract after you turn off the engine. The CTSY fuse also powers the interior lights, clock, power locks and a few other things.
The easiest way to disconnect the antenna is to remove the driver rear speaker. Behind you will find a three-wire connector with black, grey and green (I think) wires. Disconnect and the motor will stop running.
The motor is probably running constantly because the nylon cord that attaches to the final mast section has broken--this is a very common problem. As long as it is NOT a CB antenna you can get a replacement mast section with cord.

You can also remove the passenger side shift console panel and unplug the wires from the power antenna relay.
