Hi,
WOW!
What a car!!!
I'd love to see photos of what it looked like before it was restored!
I'll bet this will have a SERIOUS price tag!
Regards,
Alan

3M67, thanks for the link!

The ad says they offer flexible financing. I think it would need to be very flexible. Love the car though. Any guess what it will bring?

"Currently Not For Sale." Makes you wonder whether they're saving this one for a future Barrett-Jackson head liner.

Hi,
The car has a really 'fresh' look to it.
I wonder when the restoration was done and by whom?
It would be interesting to see the Judging Sheets.
The pictures seem to show an over-restored car, (which I love), which may not be to everyone's liking.
$175,000 - $200,000?
Regards,
Alan

What cars are going to be more expensive than this one… L-88 cars, well known race cars,….? .

Alan,

The ad made no mention of the car being restored. Could it be unrestored?? But I agree, it looks factory fresh!

I bet it would be worth a lot more if it was unrestored. Then again, why would a rare, desirable car with such low mileage even need to be restored? Ahh, the stories these cars can tell.

Love the color. If only it was a coupe...

Hi Rev,
I'm pretty sure the pictures not only show a restored car, they show a car restored to a level a good bit beyond what a 69 was like when it was brand new.
Regards,
Alan

Can anyone comment on the 'dabs' of blue and orange paint on the front suspension parts? I found similar traces of blue and orange paint on my '77 front suspension when refurbishing it and it confused the heck out of me trying to decide what should be painted what color.

Their ad is a bit confusing. The banner says currently not for sale yet the description says they are proud to offer it for sale.

Hi rev,
The dabs of paint are 'inspection' marks.
The marks are often seen under the grime when a part is being cleaned using a method that's not too 'invasive'. They're typically on suspension and steering components.
I'm unsure if every CAR had EVERY mark… perhaps the marks were on every 5 or 10 cars or sporadic ?
Quanta Products has a kit that includes the color paints and instructions (drawings) showing where the marks typically were placed.
So now lots of restored cars have the paint marks in exactly the same place and the 'dab' is exactly the same shape..
Regards,
Alan

It could go way north of 200K. If it truly has never been titled before, that is something that just doesn't happen anymore. That car looks way to nice to not have been restored in some form or fashion, even if it was stored in a climate and humidty controlled space its entire life. Seals and what not would still be destroyed by time. This car is absolutely pristine, and I agree this is a car my idiot self would buy and drive the wheels off of it and have 100K miles in no time on and ruin the value, but the experience would be worth it!!!!!

The center gauge bezel is a repop and I think the spare tub rivets may be installed backwards. Power steering hoses are not original. Side pipe mufflers look to be ceramic coated or painted? Rear steering knuckle hole plugs are missing.
Like Alan indicated over restored and not exactly to factory spec's.
But, very cool nonetheless.

I may have forgotten, but was it only the big block AC cars that had the brass expansion tank for the radiator? This one has a different one than mine has? It has some kind of silver tank. How many types of radiator systems did this one year have ? :P

Hi jh,
I noticed the rivets on the tub strap too.
They typically had an unusual 'set' compared to the other rivets used various places on the car.
Just a small detail though.
That's why I posted I was wondering about the identity of the restorer.
Regards,
Alan

This is what I'd expect it to look like if it was unrestored.
This is a 300 mile 72 that was stored in a controlled environment.
You can see what QUICKLY happens to unpainted/un-plated surfaces.

I saw this car at the NCRS Heart of Ohio Chapter meet in April 2014, I believe it was the cars first outing. At that time, I believe the owner was from Kentucky or Tennessee. IIRC, he was the one who did a total frame off on it.

It then turned up at Barrett Jackson in Jan. 2015, $220,000.

Hi Revi,
Thanks for the additional info.
What did the car look like in person?
The photos are pretty 'flattering'!!!

Alan

It looked extremely nice, but I wondered why everything needed redone on a 352 mile car. From my novice brain, everything was restored on it as opposed to preserved.
