1968 with a 3-speed manual.
Saw a 68, convertible over the week end. Noticed it had a 327 with a (3) speed manual. I've never seen the three speed before. Was the 3-speed & 4-speed standard , and the auto was an option? Are they rare?

The 3-speed was standard so that a dealer could advertise "blah-blah Chevrolet - the home of the $3000 Corvette, in stock now!!! ".
A no-option Corvette with the 3-speed was a hair under $4K. The dealer would have exactly one in stock so as not to get in trouble for false advertising and not expect to sell it until the end of the model year at a big discount.

For 68 and 69, the 3 speed manual was standard equipment. All other transmissions were optional at extra cost. For either year, there were not too many three speeds.
The 4 speed wide ratio became standard in 1970.

Doing some Black Book math, should have been 326 3-speed cars for 68 and 252 for 69.
