I did find that the jobs do go faster and better when you have the right tool. So any task that I need to do, and dont have the right tool, then I go out and buy it. The aggravation saved by trying to do the job without it is usually worth the price.

I justify them by saying as above, we can pay the labor for someone else to do it, or we can buy the tool and I can do it myself. Never had a problem.

It's always a good repair job if you get to buy another tool.

I know it is an older thread...but getting my 4 post was easy....on our 20th wedding anniversary I gave my wife a pair of diamond studs and I got a card! In her defense we don't usually exchange anniversary gifts. So the lift went in the next month....BTW the studs cost more than the lift so I am making it up in tools.

My next big tool purchase is going to be a TIG welder. Don't need it for anything, (right now) but it's on my bucket list. I have a stick and MIG, Might trade both of those for a multi process machine that will do it all>>>>>

I just say "I need the tool"

Then she says she wants another thing for the kitchen.

The kitchen is now full of expensive (sometimes very expensive) and unesefull stuff.
I wonder what she thinks of the garage.

But for the lift I want to buy, I really need to find some creative idea

Just tell her the savings it will be for the jobs you will be able to do on the car. Also tell her it is a safety thing, I am getting too old to work under a car with jack stands.

If you lend a tool the next time you need it you won't have it.

Same here, what I really want is a Miller Dynasty 210. I currently have a Lincoln 155 Mig and Lincoln 225 AC/DC stick.

Default No begging.

I buy what I want. She buys what she wants.
The big price tags get discussed about beforehand.
Gotta have some rules.

What are your excuses for buying tools?
1. I ran out of Band Aids.

2. My knuckles want to retire.

He who dies with the most tools wins.

Double cred for Snap-On.
