Default What are your excuses for buying tools?

I bought a nice new timing light , (even though I have 2 old ones) because neither had a built in tach or the adjustable advance which I desperately needed

I bought a new set of laser etched sockets and wrenches because it was easier to read them ( Im getting older)

I bought a new Mighty vac to help with bleeding the brakes by myself

I bought a power bleeder because I felt that the mighty vac didnt do a quick enough or good enough job

I bought a new set of taps and dies because I HAD TO put a temp sender in my World Proucts sportsman II heads

New drill set for said tapping operation as well

and My favorite.......

I BOUGHT A QUICK JACK LIFT becasue I had to change my oil!!!
Its obviously good for a few other things too

I also need some other tools next week I believe

Never heard that one. Thank God she pays no attention to what I say I paid for them.

I just buy it and ask my wife to subtract the amount from our checking account. She does not complain or ask me why I needed it and I never question her spendng habits.

Win-Win

I have a one string of 1/2 Metrics with these and I think I'm going to replace all my sockets with them. Soo much easier to see.

Beyond that I buy tools as needed. The Quicklift was a got to have it.

I tell me wife, and continue to remind her, that I do not take on any new "honey-do" tasks unless it involves buying a new tool.

She hasn't asked me yet if the new tool is necessary to accomplish the "honey-do" task.

I have this in the works BEFORE I say it's on sale;

"I am waiting to do 'that job' until the tool is on sale, don't want to waste money."

Still waiting for the U-joint tool to come on sale.
Still waiting for the 3.73 gears to come on sale.
etc.

When they do. I am in the clear.

Thick blue smoke coming out of angle grinder while polishing last night....stopping on the way home to pick up a new one. Usually the reason I buy tools is that it's cheaper than paying someone else to do it. However, I have stopped buying any tools associated with laying patio stones.

I just got a deal for a used tool box on craigs list. Saved over $200 vs a new one. Now I have all those empty drawers....And I also get text msgs with coupons from Harbor Frt.
