New Addition To The Family

I was in Key west 6 years ago and vowed to go back. Last December I had my wedding down there and spent a great week. I don't know if I could live there forever but it seems very low key and relaxed and WARM. If I could swing it 6 months there and 6 months here would be fine.

Dennis, if we could get David and Gordon both down here, we could all have a great time. I would go broke working on cars all the time but it sure would be fun!
As to the big game, I am an Alabama grad trapped here in Athens lol! Can’t lose, either the alma mater wins, or my adopted team does. Very cool that it worked out this way for the national championship. Roll Tide! Had to slip it in.

David and Snow don't mix well anymore.
I used to love to play in the snow as a kid growing up in Southwestern Michigan. Now I just seem to lose my balance and fall on the icy stuff.
Took another spill yesterday and now my right leg complaining to me. I may have to reconsider a winter home below the snow zone where I can work on my cars.
Be back soon.
David

Burning Brakes
I had some fun moving frames and chassis' yesterday in preparation for building the 77 rolling chassis. I lifted the 77 body again and rolled out the 78 rolling body dolly; then rolled in the 76 rolling chassis body dolly I got a week ago. Temporary storage dolly for now.

Attachment 48247344
Attachment 48247345
Here the body is sitting on the 76 roller and the 78 roller is underneath the lift.
Attachment 48247346
This is the fully restored 1977 original frame. It has new body mounts; new gussets; reinforced welds; a new cross member strike plate; and a new removable transmission cross member. It has been media blasted and powder coated and is ready for service.
Attachment 48247347
While I had them out and available I did a comparison of the 1976, 77, and 78 frames so I would be able to help others in the future with the differences and their modifications.
Attachment 48247348
This is the 1976 manual chassis I brought home this past week.
Attachment 48247349
It will be used for a body/frame dolly for now until I determine when I will restore it.
Attachment 48247350
The 1976 frame (right) and the 1977 frame (left) are virtually identical. I would see no issues whatsoever in using one for the other for any 76 or 77 that has a rotten frame in need of replacement. The differences in the 1978 frame are in the mounting of the gas tank support and it is an easy modification for use on a 1976 or 1977 car. This 78 is an automatic frame. The 76 is a manual frame. The 77 is a modified manual frame.
Attachment 48247351
Attachment 48247352
When doing a frame to rolling chassis build there is nothing better for guidance than an actual original rolling chassis sitting nearby as a road map. I have built a few rollers now so I am comfortable building them but this is always a nice way to do them with a model to compare your work.
And coming home soon will be my first C-2 frame; a manual 1965 frame which I will be restoring soon. I will photograph it and show the differences in the frames for those that would like to know more.
I hope you enjoyed seeing the frame and chassis work taking place here and let me know if you have any questions about my build or the frames.
Have a good week.

It even looks like you've managed to get some work done too !
Sorry to here of all your injuries but it looks like you have healed well and your back on a roll !
Just out of curiosity since the 78 and 79 model year being so similar would that mean that with the same mod on the gas tank mount mean that a 79 frame could be interchanged also ?
Regards !

I just looked over at the parts section and see that you are selling your project again !
Wish I were in a position to take that project off your hands so I could go to a four speed car ! Looks like someone is going to get a great deal !
I sent you a PM !
Regards !!

no Longer Sharing
I have decided after a lot of thought and discussion that I am taking this build from public to private and will no longer be updating this thread or the activities associated with this build.
I appreciate all those that have contributed and assisted during this build and I wish you all the very best of success in your builds.
Best personal regards,
David Howard
