This was taken Labor Day weekend 1992 and was the last time I saw this car as I moved from my parents house in Michigan to California. I
Sold the car shortly after this was taken... Big mistake.

Back when I first met my wife-to-be I had a 79 Firebird. That car rusted out pretty bad. Then while we were together I found a 84 Trans-Am (in silver, 305 H.O. with a light weight racing clutch), Loved that car. Painted it 79 Corvette Yellow, never drove it in the winter. Sold the car to a family member and kept the wife.

Thought about buying it back about 6 years ago, but decided I wanted a vette instead.
Told the wife, "I am turning 50, it's either a car or a girlfriend"....she said "get a girlfriend, take the pressure off me". I bought the car. Cheaper in the long run.

Still think about the Trans-Am every once in a while. then I look at the vette and forget all about it.

Don wanted a black car. The dealership only had a dark blue one. He bought it, painted it black the next day himself.

Car ended up being stolen and stripped. Photo circa 1964.

My first brand new car, a '71 Chevelle SS 454. I kept it a little over 2 years, then foolishly sold it. I often wondered whatever happened to it. I found out last January, when I found it on E-Bay. It was at a used car dealership in Maryland. This is it in 2016........

We're you tempted to buy it back? I've search a bit for my car; I know the VIN etc but it never comes up. I think if I could find it I'd buy it

Not really, for a couple of reasons. First, I bought this car "off the lot", at the end of the model year. I never gave it much thought, and didn't initially notice, but the car didn't have power steering. I know that back in those glorious muscle car days, ANYTHING that supposedly sapped horsepower, was considered a sin. So, whoever at the dealer "spec'd" this car out for inventory, didn't check the option box for power steering. BUT, they added bucket seats, a console, and a rear speaker for the radio. Go figure.

Long story short, with that iron big block over the front wheels, the car was a bear to drive around town. It drove like a truck, basically. And it the time, it was my DD. It was HORRIBLE in the snow. After 2 years, I decided to trade it off.

Reason number two, I bought that car, new, for $3450, and got $2500 for it two years later, when I traded it off. The dealer that had it in 2016, wanted $34,500 for it. If I was going to spend that kind money for another car, I'd be looking at something new.

No power steering in that car would be a royal pain. My '68 'Vette didn't have it either (or pwr brakes) but A: it wasn't a daily driver and B: it doesn't weigh anywhere near what your car weighed.

I take my statement back - a quick Google search said my '68 Convertible Corvette weighed in at 3,425 and your car about 3,436...how is that even possible?!?!

Wow - what are the odds of that??

My '67 Camaro, which had about 250K hard miles on it when I finally sold it.

How long has it been since you've seen ski racks on one - as well as a Fu Manchu?
