Exhaust is well hung
Bought a Corvette Central exhaust, went in with zero issues. Took less than one hour to install. It basically hanging in place with brackets snugged up, still need header to exhaust connection but that will probably be completed at muffler shop.

Burning Brakes
Just read through your thread and it looks like your doing a lot of good stuff to your turd!
At least yours started out in better shape than mine did ! I'm still trying to replace all the missing stuff !
That motor looks outstanding and I bet it feels good to start out with a fresh engine!
Can't wait to see what you and your brother do next but you've sure got a good jump on already!

Burned a day off today
Scheduled today as, take vette to muffler shop to get the welds done day. It didn't happen. Just before I called the tow truck I looked under the hood and realized oops i forgot to connect the transmission cooler lines to the radiator (I'm picturing in my head pushing the vette and transmission fluid blowing all over my engine) also i never put oil in the engine so off to the auto parts store. Took me a couple hours to get everything done including washing the poor thing (first time this year), called the tow truck and he's busy until 2pm... rescheduling for Monday. She does look better after the carwash 😎

Waiting on parts
working on the house these past couple weeks so not much progress, ordered a bunch of parts and they are slowly trickling in, power steering hoses custom made to go from 1974 Corvette and work with a 1987 Camaro pump, that was fun Ordered and rec'd today my distributor, and oil cooler. Waiting on Moroso Ultra 40 plug wires...
Not much left to do.... its getting close

waiting for parts
I'm installing parts daily at this point, I got the heater hoses routed the way I wanted, I even installed a thermostat on the manifold instead of installing a plug. I bit the bullet and paid a vendor here for a 3/8 temp sender that installs in the Aluminum cylinder head instead of the normal route on top of the intake manifold.... gawd that hurt Almost $100 shipped... Anyway, I'm looking at getting this thing on the road by June

Lol, it doesn't feel like fast progress
I'm waiting on parts still It's SO frustrating waiting for 3 freaking weeks for a single part from a sponsored vendor... So I'm on hold till the part arrives. In the meantime I did a temporary exhaust (technically it could be permanent but) so I could save 200 bucks for a tow to a muffler shop 1.6 miles away roundtrip. I finally got all my fluids filled, no leaks anywhere, I have most of my NEW factory wiring harness hooked up using pigtails from old fitting to new (Alternator, AC) My upper radiator hose was frankenstein'd from a 1980s Lincoln Had to cut it up and make it work. I'm SO close now Here's a pic of the temp exhaust from header to aftermarket 2 1/2" exhaust
Oh, and the Fram filter is just for priming the engine

Upper Radiator Hose
Not real proud of the upper hose but it will be good enough to get it up and running, I may want to try the killer glass see thru lexan thingy just to see how it looks/operates. The engine pic was taken before I tackled the harness Also I fabricated a piece of stainless for a hose brace that will support the radiator hose at the bend.

Ahhhhh Monkey !
I had some time to go thru this thread and I remember this "monkey" reply and had no idea what he was referring to. I looked at all the pics I posted and noticed the pic of my radiator in the shed you could see my Honda CT70 "monkey" THAT was he was talking about Anyways for your viewing pleasure and since nothing is getting done until parts get here, here's the Monkey story... I went thru a bad divorce, cost me about $300k and messed up my credit Anyway, I still needed something to do so I saw a CT70 frame for sale cheap, bought it, painted it, found another CT70, and realized how simple these things are to build. So I frame off restored 4 of them, I upgraded the inside of the Japanese motor keeping the original motors in all the bikes just bigger piston and head etc, Built two 88cc motors and two 108cc. The red bike has a 108cc (I recently sold it after it sat in the shed over a year and never ridden) and the blue CT I added complete billet frontend and disc brake. Anyways, thats my monkey story

Drifting
Hurry up and bring that bad boy to work one day, I wanna check it out in person, take the spot right infront of the North change room, right next to where everyone parks their motorcycles it took me a while but I figured it out. The sticker in your garage picture was a dead giveaway 675 brother

I was toying with going a different direction with my build, I found a great deal on an LS2 motor and I have these heads and intake laying around from a different build so I spent some time deliberating whether to install the LS2 in the Vette or my next build. Due to complacency and laziness I decided to keep the LS2 for another build but in doing so I lost a month or two chasing parts for a car I don't even own.... Startup will be next week for this thing. I'm tired of weighing pluses and minuses with myself and I'm tired of staring at this car just sitting there....

Ok, she's running, I went thru the Holley Sniper startup and didn't experience any startup issues, no leaks anywhere but gud gawd she's LOUD ! The Pete Jackson timing gear is noticeable, the ZZ9 cam thumps and the FI works flawlessly. I'll post a running video Monday. I have ALOT of wiring to reroute so that's the next issue

So my B&M turbo 400 trans has some issues, it won't shift until 3000rpm and between shifts the engine just free revs until 3000 rpms so this weekend I'm dropping the trans and adding/removing weights on the governor. Other than that this has been an uneventful startup and restoration. Also removing the entire interior and installing Dynamat for heat and sound deadening and new center console and dash. I love the sound of the lumpy ZZ9 cam and gear drive, the perfect 750rpm Holley Sniper regulated idle. All in all, a great build. Probably doing another build soon, this time an LS1 or LS2 Also, next month, after it cools down a bit, AC will be installed and working

It works
It's getting more difficult to stay motivated and carry on. I got my B&M trans governor rebuild kit and read the instructions, I stared at the Vette knowing this job was going to SUCK! I removed the just installed exhaust, sigh, the exhaust hanger bracket and then the trans mount. Lowered the trans, I now had access to the governor cover, i was expecting a little oil to come out so I had a small coffee can size container to catch it, LOL, HOLY CRAP ! I lost about 3 quarts of oil, there was oil everywhere! I took a break, cleaned up and went after it. My transmission shifting issue was high rpm shifts and no controlled shifts below 3500rpm. According to the instructions my weights were too light and I needed to go heavier. The kit was awesome, I disassembled the governor and installed the heavier weights and stared at the Vette again, gawd I don't want to climb under there again..... I cranked some music and went for it. It's done, I drove it, its F'N PERFECT!
