1968 Tobacco Interior

1968 Tobacco Interior
I bought my 1968 Corvette Bronze/Tobacco car from the original owner in May 1970. The interior is still all original except for a new carpet, new brake console and an upgrade to leather seats. The carpets needed it, the console was cracked and the leather seats were just something I wanted (the original vinyl were still in perfect condition). My problem is in matching the original color. My first replacement carpet (1991) was brown and it took me over twenty years (2012) to finally find a set in the correct tobacco color. But the replacement console is now brown, colored using aftermarket dye/spray. I've tried cans from Zip, Corvette America and Mid-America. None of them match the original color. Has anyone else had this same problem?

If you want vinyl dye to match your interior, buy liquid dye from a professional auto body paint supply store. They can mix it to an interior code or mix it to match a piece you bring in.
Unless you have a black interior, you will never get a good match to what you actually have unless you custom mix the dye.

Check for a SEM automotive interior dye retailer in your area (NAPA is my local source). A SEM dealer can match your color.
