Anyone have a part # for a decent in dash speaker that actually fits the dash under that grill? Jeesh, little room.

I bought some 4x6 from amazon (sound Storm SLQ346) They are a 3 way and 225watt. They are lighter than most as I did not want to add weight with huge magnet. Now I had to mark the 4 holes from the mount and drill the holes to fit but they went in great and sound great as well. 40 bucks I thinks so good price. Mine is a 1973

Don't have the part number.... but put a set of 4x6 pioneers in about 10 years ago they do fit the 81.... try Crutchfield

Bigbird I put these (Pioneer TS-A4675R) in my 81 two years ago and they fit right in with no mods necessary and sounds great. They come with a mounting plate that will fit perfect. Just pop the original grill out, remove the old and install the new speakers. You will need to splice in the new included wiring harness, a couple minutes each and you are done. I also got the rear 6x9's that match. The rear though required building a couple of custom speaker boxes, but sound better with deep base.
