Looking to buy REAL 69 L-88
Need some opinions about where the market is now for 69 L-88's! Considering several that are original and several that have *restoration* motors in them....All have paperwork!

There are only a few dealers who the owners of the original L88s deal with. Corvette Mike, Proteam, Kevin Mackay and some other big names. There cars are well described and they will not ruin there reputations with BS cars. Private owners who have them for $100k usually have non original cars they are trying to pass off as original with forged documentation.
There are no deals with these cars. The original true L88s have owners who know what they are. If you find a GREAT deal its almost certainly not an original car.

Very few of the original cars still have their original motors, according to Dave Walters. If you are looking for a 69 with that requirement as well as bullet proof documentation AND provenance, then you will need to find a willing seller who is known in the community. You will have to pay their price, which is probably approaching high six figures or more. None of us can answer your current market value question. You need to have somebody knowledgeable on your side to inspect any car before pulling the trigger. Thorpe has a very good reputation and is probably as good as they get.
There will be an every ten year reunion of L88 cars and their owners next year at Bloomington. Maybe you can swing a deal there?

Out of the 116 built in 69, how many survived.? Think Faster Rat is right, you would have to know somebody to even get close to an L-88. What is the OP,s intention with the car? Investment obviously, but would it get driven or just sit.?

Whatever the seller wants...dont think theres any "market"
Even though they go for a lot sure wouldnt lay out that much for investment awful risky unless you picked one up for cheap...thats not gonna happen. Good luck

There's a "market" for everything. I'd say very few are probably actually driven much. Probably a couple in the hands of a family that wants to hold onto "Dad's car" that won't sell for a long time. Outside of that, the rest of the surviving ones are probably sitting in a large garage with about 20-50+ other cars the guy owns and literally just chilling. A few others are probably in a restoration shop getting ready for a show and eventual sale. The dude who's holding onto them probably drove it once or twice and either has it just for investment, the cool factor of saying he has an L-88 in his collection, and/or both. Owner generally doesn't have any sentimental value in it, could care less. Determine a price, write a check, and it's yours.
If you're looking for something like that, contact people in the industry with contacts (folks that have sold such cars in the past) as they know how to get in contact with folks that have these cars and that might be willing to sell.

I don't see anyone buying an L88 for an investment. The guys that can afford one have much better investments that they are involved in or they wouldn't have the disposable income to buy on to begin with. If they don't drive it that probably has more to do with that they own too many cars to have the time and just collect.
There are always a few for sale. You just better hire someone who really knows what they are looking at before you actually buy one.
Proteam has a few 69s including one that's in Hemmings for $400k that was restored by Thorpe that seems to meet your criteria. There out there.
There are always a few at the big auctions as well.
