Default Question for SMOG Experts / Early C3s

Hi Fellas,

I have a smog diverter valve stamped 29199. It is not the one on my car, just one of my spares.
The smog on my 69 L46 is original to the car and also has a 29199 diverter. The difference is, my spare has a "V" shaped wire that is tacked from the muffler to the cup.
Has anyone ever seen this?

Nothing urgent, just wondering. Thanks! Have a great weekend!

EDIT: I have seen one like this (different #) on a big block setup but never on a SB.

Hi aj,
The new 68-69 TIM&JG indicates that very early 69 model year mufflers have a spot welded wire clip similar to what you describe.
Later 69 mufflers are 'crimped' in place.
Regards,
Alan
