In process of buying 454, 4 speed beater for 1,000!
This one guy bought a house to flip .The deceased owner's daughter sold the house to him with everything in the garage and all the "junk" cars that were the in the back. Well, 1 of them is a Vette. It needs seats and a paint job badly. I only saw it at night and even then I was about to turn it down. But after thinking that I could just paint it and get seats and sell it for a little more, i decided to get it. at first I couldn't open the hood, thinking that it was a 350. Today I went during the day and almost changed my mind, that ugly! I managed to open the hood and lo and behold, a big block! I said I surely have to get it now! it comes with an extra big block that's in the garage too! This guy just wants it out because he's gonna sell the house as soon as he finishes the house. It appears to be matching numbers also. I'll be posting pics soon of it. I think it's a 71 or 72. I have the vin but I don't know if it's wise to post it publicly. Is there a good source for the vin lookup? Thanks to all.

Intriguing....title? Rust? Might hopefully be a rare bargain or might be a parts car, please keep us posted,
Lots of people post vins and license tags some are all paranoid about it and even cover plates in a pic.
Do whats right for you,
Cheers,

If it's on the C3 Registry or has been referenced anywhere else, it will show up if you google the VIN. I'm not sure why there would be an issue posting the VIN here. Pics of the car and under the hood would be even better.

I'd post the VIN numbers, who cares.
Heck post the numbers off the other block that's sitting there too. Maybe someone here will get lucky with their orig. block sitting in some dudes garage. It's a long shot but who knows.

Im not being a negative nelly but 1000 may or may not be a right move,
it takes time and effort to remove and post parts for sale, then deal with pita looky lous and low ballers, ask any flipper if they would pay 1k without knowing a heck of a lot more,
How do people say it, spend 15k to have a 5k corvette?
I dont see this car as of yet being a cha ching proposition, but i admit im jaded,
Is the car in the thread worth 1000 ? Sure to some and others wouldnt touch it for free, one answer doesnt fit all....

Ok. I'll post more pics when i finally have it in my yard. The dash is in good condition, odometer shows 50,XXX miles. It also has that plaque near the shifter displaying engine, torque,,etc.Hmmm, I would have thought this was a big score, being a numbers matching 454 4 speed for only 1000.

I finally found a vin site. Its the 6th number that determines the year. According to the site, it's a '71. I dont have paperwork to confirm yet. The dr. side door tag states trim 400.

It could be a 71 if the front clip was replaced with a 74...
A trim tag of 400 would mean black standard interior - for a 69-74
I'd post up a pic of the vin- a 71 would look like this-
BTW- I randomly pull this up w/ "Google"

If a 71 why does the tail look cut off like a 74 to 77 missing the bumper cap,
Perhaps a 71 with front and rear clips changed,
Or maybe the angle and trash can messes with my eyes
