LT-1 on Craigslist

Not mine, just came across it. I know you guys love coming across LT-1s. Maybe someone in the market here would like to see it.

Something isn't right. These cars are cheaper then dirt. Normally You couldn't buy one legitimate LT-1 for the price this person is asking for these 2 - plus one is a convertible
Besides everything, nobody snatched them by now? Even as regular coupes?

Like I said, I know nothing about them, just passing along for the forum.

These cars look like they are in need of some serious attention. 12K for the coupe and 37K for the LT1 does not sound dirt cheap to me.
But what do I know?
But what do I know?

Dude wants a lot for it (the LT-1) given the condition IMO vs. what's out on eBay recently. Looks like a barn find that hasn't been driven in years. Could have at least washed the mouse crap or leaves (or is that flaking paint?) off the back for the pictures
Also, is that a stick on bathroom air freshener on the center console or a urinal cake?
Cleaned up, that'll be a gorgeous car though. It would tick a few boxes being a convertible LT-1, and blue looks sharp IMO.
Maybe (hopefully) someone will take a look, get it for the right price (which given the starting point, might take a while), and clean it up. Since it's a MI car that looks like it sat in a barn for years hopefully rust isn't an issue, but the under hood shot isn't giving me a ton of confidence.

$37,000 for a convertible LT-1 is too cheap, try to find one anywhere near that price.
$12k for a chrome bumper is cheap.
I have a building lot on Singer Island, FL. It's mostly sand except for the 40 tons of soil brought in back in April for planting base. This 1/3 acre is for sale at 1.6 mil.

As for the condition of a MI car, you just never know. My '68 sat outside for at least 15 years. Some suspension needed to be replaced, there was a little rocker rot, the #4 reinforcements needed to be replaced, but the rest of the birdcage was perfect. I was really surprised by the condition. Seems the rust is hit or miss. It might have helped that it was pretty much a designated race car nearly it's whole life.
Hopefully someone will take a look at them at see what is truly there. Heck, I might be willing to check them out for someone farther away than I am.

Personally, I think the asking price for both of them may be slightly high considering they will have to be gone through and issues fixed. It would be awesome if everything on the LT-1 was correct and it could be saved as a survivor.

I agree, lots of unknowns here. It could be reasonable, but looking at those pictures does not tell me anything that would make me believe that.
Sorry, just assumed that was where you got your cheaper than dirt statement. I guess if I had a 1/3 acre plot of land for sale for $1.6mil I would call $37k cheaper than dirt

the LT-1...terrible condition. It would scare me just thinking about what that needs. You don't have to go a ton over that price (not that he wouldn't take less) to get a solid survivor coupe. I know first hand.

I remember seeing these cars for sale on THIS forum awhile ago. The barn picture is what I remember. If I also remember correctly, the seller (original seller not sure if its the same person) originally wanted some ridiculous amount of money, now he must be starting to get down to reality or finally sold them at a fair price.
I also seem to remember that the blue car was sitting in that barn for a VERY long time which would not be good for the frame and who knows what else.
LT1's while not cheap, are not super high priced. Even the verts, there was a beautiful maroon one on here for sale recently in excellent condition with great docs in the $60k's I think. The resto on this blue one would probably cost as high as $40k. So the price is not exactly a bargain. And that's assuming there are no major issues with rust and it has the original drive train.

There was also the silver 72 convert with the color trim override recently sold on the forum and his asking price was around $38k. That car was also described as original drivetrain. Looked really nice and that is almost the same price as the barn find in this thread. The car did sell pretty quickly but that does show the cars are out there if the seller really wants to actually sell a car.
Very few people buyers overpay by a large margin. If they do, its usually going to be for a car that is completely done. But those buyers are far and few between.
