1984 or 2014, its not the car dealer that is at fault here, its ultimately the buyers responsibility to make sure what they are buying is worth what they are paying, not sure how you can say to watch out for a dealer that sold a car in 1984 with dirt on a dash panel...

seems like you are going a tad overboard here.

" . . . seems like you are going a tad overboard here."

Back for more. You're totally correct, ask my wife. Overboard seem to be my natural resting state. Sorry for taking this rant in such a direction. Weirdly, most likely my age factoring in, 1985 seems like yesterday, time passes SO very differently these days. I'm completely aware that whomever once worked at Corvettes and Classic back then is probably dead right now, and the current crew are in no way responsible for anything at all. They're probably all around twenty-five if that, and yet . . .

You're very right, Knerf.

Here we have the pesky wasp we call "Mud Daubers" They get mud, pack it into a nest and make mud pies to live in..... Possibly they brought the mud? I'd have to be inclined to think the car was possibly a flood car and that the selling dealer probably didn't know this either, or maybe he did, but 20 years later it'd be hard to know anything.

Personally I did get a free Corvette, and it still sits in the exact same place it sat when my buddy Hugh parked it in my shop 3 years ago. For years I stored the car for him in my shop and sadly, Hugh died of pancreatic cancer. When diagnosed he had six weeks to live and he only lasted six weeks. After three weeks he brought me the car to store (assuming it was just a hold over and really not thinking he would be gone in three more weeks).

When Hugh dropped the car off, he also brought me book that contained all the original paper work for the car including the sales receipt, insurance receipt, original order sheet, key chain, the knock outs from the original keys (still in the ignition) the build sheet from the gas tank (he removed), the original sales order, the original window sticker.. everything. I never looked a the book he left until a few months after he died.

Inside the book was a signed title and a letter I'll cherish till the day I die. Oh, it's a 1978 SA car 4 speed, with 25K miles.

Yes I did, he was one of my best friends and I'll always cherish his friendship. Someday when I'm not so touchy about it, I plan do do a post on the entire story. Hugh was a great friend and a awesome doctor that made the ultimate mistake. The cancer didn't start in is pancreas, it traveled there from his throat due to acid reflux.

When I removed the seats from my 74 I discovered a fair amount of rat poop. When I removed the map pocket I found where their nest was.

BLETCH ! ! ! !

Just yesterday pulled the upper panels rearward of the T-Tops and found them full of sunflower seeds ? ! ? ! ? Also pulled the inner plastic rear window surround and broke it into five separate pieces, going to try repairing that later on today, otherwise buying a nice new, less brittle one tomorrow.

Not to get this off topic, but you should have it checked out. I too changed my diet after this and like you I had heart burn almost every day but no more.... I dumped 97 lbs and 12 pant sizes and at my age combined with a spinal fusion... I've ran 4 marathons this year and running a mini on Saturday.
