Default Bracket screwed to bottom of passenger's side lower dash panel?

There's a little springy bracket/holder screwed to the bottom back side of the passenger's side lower dash panel. It looks a lot like something that you would pick up at the hardware store and fasten to an inner closet door to help hold a broom in place by the handle.

It this supposed to be there or is it an addition by the dealer who sold the car?

If it's supposed to be there, would anyone know what it holds in place?

Thanks —

Default turn signal bracket

if it looks like the picture it holds the turn signal flasher.

You should also see the wires and plug where the flasher it attached while you are checking. Flashers are abut 5 bucks at any auto store. I assume your turn signals are not working correctly?

Thanks for the tip. I'm not sure if ANY of the electrics are working, haven't looked into them yet. For now, stripping out the interior, then sorting out the engine. Car's been napping for more than twenty years, there's going to be a lot of things that will need attention.

While you are fumbling around under there anyway, do yourself a favor and drop in an LED flasher. It will still work with regular lights. You need to wire a ground, but it will save time replacing it later if you upgrade.

I use a United Pacific 90652. It comes with a polarity reverser, which you may or may not need (I did). Buy two if you have a separate hazard flasher.
