Default Do my '69 kick panel speakers need to be grounded?

I had my oem radio and speakers out for a while (8 years ) and just put them back in. There is zero sound from the speakers. The radio light goes on. Now unless the speaker plug behind the radio pulled out, I don't know the problem. I looked behind the radio and the plug connection looks intact. The ground question just came to mind. Thanks

The speakers have a green and a black wire- factory harness. No other ground needed.

If you still have the convector unit installed and connected properly, it is very possible that the transistors on the convector are bad.

But, to be sure, you need a good technician to find the problem.

The Delco radio does use a common ground system. The speakers don't need to be grounded separately, but they get ground via the radio unit. However, if the radio head is not grounded properly, that would be a problem.

Thanks, now I know what a convector is. Going thru my resto photos just now , I see when I had the dash apart, I had the convector on tthe passenger side car floor. In later photos right before dash pad assembly, it seemed to be put back correctly. Tomorrow I plan to take the dash pad off and take a look at it. For a moment, I thought I might have taken it off and not put it back on but that wasn't the case.
