Default My new 74 project

Just got my 74 350 auto coupe delivered last night and I知 really excited.

Im hoping I値l be able to get everything on the car in working condition over the next several months. So far it looks pretty decent to me. The biggest issue I致e found so far is the bottom of the battery box is gone. I値l probably keep updating it as I go along. This is my first C3 so I don稚 know too much about these machines. I think it痴 a decent car that a few thousand dollars will go a long way into making an okay driving car.

Thanks I致e been going through it all day making a list of what I need to do. It mostly just needs all the bugs worked out. Wipers don稚 work, headlights don稚 come up. The interior is pretty rough.

Biggest issues seem to be the damaged bumper, battery tray has rotted away so much I知 amazed the battery hasn稚 fallen through. Also the exhaust is complete trash.

Im really excited about this. I致e owned many project vehicles, however this is only the second carbureted car I致e ever owned.

Hi FE,
Well!
It looks like you have a nice 74 to work on!

Depending on just how much the bottom of the battery compartment bottom is damaged you may be able to do a fiberglass repair (it's a good place to learn about working with fiberglass) or you may be better off replacing the damaged area.
There are often just the bottom fiberglass section of the compartment available on the 'bay' because this is a surprisingly common repair. You might begin looking there to see what's available.

I hope your 74 turns out to be a good car and gives you lot's of pleasure!
Regards,
Alan

Thanks I probably paid too much (which is how it always goes). It was exactly what I wanted though. I love the color, small window and it will give me just enough to tinker with over the winter.

Thanks for the advice. I bought the car sight unseen and didn稚 know about the battery tray issue. When I saw how bad it was I tought it would probably be a large expense to fix. Luckily I found this forum and it痴 not as hard to fix as I initially thought.
