Default How to end Armor-All?

Anyone having trouble with Armor-All all over their interior, causing fish eyes and interfering with paint and dye application? I've been running into a HIUGE problem on my newly arrived Vette with regards to Armor-All saturation of every single surface through out the interior. Honestly like someone hosed the interior down with this stuff.

Obviously as these cars age and end up in the hands of their saviors, there are going to be a lot of crap that FPO did that needs correcting, but STILL . . . ! ! !

I just recently purchased a good used shift console top plate, took it all apart for stripping and re-painting and nothing by fish eyes ! Somehow it ended up with Armor-All even on the bottom of the ashtray cover. I mean, come on !

So, how do I kill this ****? I'be tried, acetone, lacquer thinner, paint stripper, toilet cleaner, sanding, scrubbing with dish soap and hitting it with a Brillo pad and nothing's worked. What's the simple trick to this?

Thanks—

Good luck.

Yeah, agreed, obviously. Can't fathom why Armor-All of would be used on the seats? Who would want a slippery shinny seat when their driving at speed, through turns and switchbacks? The seats offer no lateral support as it is, why would you want to slide around between the console and door panel?

Nonsense !

Still waiting for that magic bullet here. Something as simple as, "I use laundry bleach." would be superb. Although, I just tried that as well and no luck.

Tried the lacquer thinner with counter top cleaner but not the simple green, maybe pick sone up if the alcohol doesn't yield results.

go to a auto body paint store and get silicone remover. MEK would help too. but I don't know what that will do for plastic

You wanna keep that $hit and other sprays like silicone, WD40, Liquid Wrench AS FAR AWAY FROM FIBERGLASS as possible. It'll wick up into the fiberglass and you'll BE IN REAL TROUBLE. Maybe not right away but sometime.

There are different names for it but its function is wax and grease remover ! There are different strengths of it so start with the least strength of it!

This can be bought at any auto paint store !

If your using a spray gun they also have an additive called fisheye remover that is added to the paint or dye that your spraying!

They also sell a product called Bulldog which is an adhesive sealer that should be sprayed before paint or dye ! Can be bought in a spray can if your not using a spray gun !

I've also found that by spraying in super lite coats letting each one dry you can sometimes build over what is causing the fisheye !

Hope all this helps!

Google "how to remove armor-all" and you'll get a couple of homemade recipes using vinegar.

Fish eye is a contaminate on the paint surface. its mostly silicone. even your deodorant can cause it along with many other hygiene products. so be careful of what you use before paint and prep. Fish eye can also come from spaying two different types of paint on each other. if the first coat of paint or primer is enamel based and you spray lacquer or vs versa it can cause fish eye or lifting.

Success ! Rubbing alcohol followed by window cleaner did the trick ! Thanks for all of the other tips, I'm going to keep them in my arsenal, probably grab some Prep-Sol as well next time that I'm at the paint jobbers.

Thank you, but I STILL hare Armor-All !

Rubbing alcohol is my go-to cleaner for almost anything. Cheap too.

White vinegar diluted is an excellent cleaner too. Great for getting water spots from the sprinklers off my truck. A bit stinky for door panels though.
